I will be soon.
Anyway, the first thing I'd like to do is get rid of those hideous boat anchor mufflers.
And, of course, I'm a little confused.
If I just buy slip ons, what will it actually do?
Save weight, I assume, and sound different, right?
Will I lose power?
Do I need to buy a PCIII just for slip ons?
Obviously, the next question is what's the story on a completely new exhaust system?
I assume then I'll need a PCIII, right?
I'm mostly concerned with saving weight and cleaning up the look of the bike, not necessarily power gains. So, it seems that slip ons or a 4 into 1 system is the way to go.
As you can tell, I'm a newby.
Please don't tell me to use the search function cuz I already did and got completely confused.
Finally, if possible, keep your answers on a 3rd grade level cuz I'm not too PCIII literate. To be honest with you, I don't even know what they do?
Be gentle with me.:please:
Thanks all.
Lenny

PS: If you have any specific brand and model recommendations for slip ons or complete systems, let em fly.

Welcome to the board! There are a bunch of different systems to look at. The best thing you can do is make a meet/greet and listen to different systems.
Full system? Get a PC and a tune. Slips on may not need a tune. But.....I have a Gen 1.

:welcome: Lenny, I just wanted looks so I got the R-77 Slip-ons. I did not care for any more power. All you have to do is put them on, you do not need a PCIII.

Different sound and look.
Correct and correct.
No, and if so it'd be only about 1hp.
No.
PCIIIUSB for complete exhaust is recommended.

Welcome to the wannabe's club.

Slip on = looks, sound and weight reduction. Inexpensive (relatively)
Full system = the above plus more power. (more expensive)
Full system plus PC and good map= the two above plus even more power. (still more expensive)
Full system PC and custom dyno tune = most power (most expensive)

I'm drooling over the 08 blue with gold wheels.
If I can't find one of those, I'll take an 09 in grey.

Last question; any idea of the relative costs for all the exhaust options?
Thanks again all.
I never expected to get so many responses so quickly.
This board really is a great place.

Dude, this will be by far the most powerful bike I've ever ridden.
Why would I want to make it more powerful?
(what a dumb question)

While a PC is not required for a simple slip on, it will help a little in performance and a lot in little annoying quirks such as an F1 error light flashing on your dash. I stuck a simple Yoshi can on my 1000 and every time I cracked it the light would flash. This code means there is a slight fuel mixture issue and may have only been for a 500 RPM increment so no worries, but the light is annoying. You have to cut the ignition off and restart to reset the code. I am told the Busa's are the same way, but I got the dealership to install a full Brock's system and PC before driving off the floor so I never did see the code on my Busa...just something to think about, Don't know if that advice is worth the 300 smackers for a PC unless you're going to follow through and tune for a good map.

That's not a dumb question at all. Just wait till your buddy beats you by two tire lengths on a fair line up a couple times  and you'll answer your own question
