Gave my FFL up about ten years ago and with pictures like this I kind of miss it....

Ok, after having second thoughts about actually shooting a limited edition gun I just couldn't put it on a shelf to sit and collect dust. Just couldn't make it serve as a safe queen. So, since the rain is gone and the sun came out I took the only .40 ammo I had here (20 rnds of 165gr Speer Gold Dot) and shot it before I had time to change my mind on putting it up unfired.

I've gotta say that the Sig DAK action is sweet! Took me a few shots to figure out where it was hittin' and to get used to the trigger, but the thing is all out Sig... sweet, smooth, and amazingly accurate.

I stepped off what should be around 30 feet and shot freehanded and unsupported at a black dot I colored onto the back of a pizza box (Blue Moon... Mmmmmmmmm!!!). The temp outside according to my atomic clock sensor was 41 degrees so my hands were freezing and stiff, and it still done this...

That group actually breaks down into two subgroups. I started out putting the black dot on top of the front site and it was hitting low (circled in green), which isn't uncommon at that distance. Should be dead on from a bit further back. I also realized that I was pulling the shots slightly left via poor trigger press control with the unfamiliar trigger system. After the first few shots I put the top of the front sight level with the top of the black dot and concentrated on smooth trigger pull and got the group circled in blue. Not bad for the first 20 rounds through a new gun with an unfamiliar trigger system.
wink.gif
If you count the holes you'll see that several rounds went into a small cluster in the green group making it impossible to find 20 separate holes. I can count 18 separate hits seeing the box up close in person. The two lost rounds went through the small cluster witout touching cardboard. I promise I didn't miss an 18" wide pizza box!

And one more shot just for the heck of it. Man, I love this gun.

A little better size perspective on the group sizes. A US quarter laid on top of each subgroup.

Nah, no green dot. I'm glad I shot it, too. I hated the thought of having it sit in a safe unused.

That's what I thought. I didn't think they would set up and engrave 1 of 1000, 2 of 1000, etc... If they had done that, I might have been more inclined to put it up I think.

That's one sweet piece!

How do you like the laser? I've always thought about trying one of those, but haven't yet. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, nice leather! I am definitely going to look into Mitch Rosen's stuff for this gun. I need to contact them to make sure whatever I get will work with the accessory rail. If it's closely boned for a non-R pistol it might not work. Just a thought.

Call Mitch and chat with him, excellent people there...but a few years since I dealt with them, but belt, holster, and mags are about $400 - $500 ball park for normal leather...custom work goes wayyyy up.

Edit - I got long winded...lol

Shoot me a pm sometime BT if ya want my cell, and I can give you info on LaserMax - cryogenic, or whatever.

Sent him an email with a few questions on boning holsters for the R model, how his thumbsnap would work with the DAK in "set" mode, and whether or not I can get a 5JR PRES-FD in sharkskin (w/matching mag carrier of course).
wink.gif
If what I want is a possibility I think I'll be ordering from him soon.

SIG's are for Pussies...
laugh.gif

Real men shoot... Wait...a Minute...

OK Ok, I fuggin Love SIG. Never had a Pistol so instictual be so accurate in a way that matters. I'm tlaking tight off hand groups in a hurry just like BT posted above. I love it.

My 226 is just a tac driver. If I can see it within about 100' I can smoke it with the 226...
thumbs-up.gif

Sent mine to ROBAR. Had them do the action and some other stuff, install the Tritium sights, then coat the slide in Ro-Guard, the frame in Electroless nickel, and all the internals in NP-3... They even coated the barrel, very cool and shoots like a dream.

Revlis, Robar does some nice work - and that is a beautiful 226 you have! Unfortunatley I sold my 226 to help fund my 229 project. Sig makes some awesome equipment, and right out of the box the trigger is so smooth.

Obviously Busa owners demand the Best, so it doesnt shock me Sigs are common place here. Nice stuff everyone....very nice.
