.40. Would have preferred .357SIG but the Homeland Security only comes in .40 since that's what the HS contract called for.You will love it BT! That is a sweet piece!
I have a P229 in .357 sig. Absolutely my favorite sidearm. Dead-on acurate, and just a great all around handgun.
What cal is it?
Thanks DJ.Now that is a sweet toy Chris ... congrats ... very nice!!
By all means man, post it up! I wanna see it. I'm looking for ideas on carry leather for it. Also interested in seeing your mods. You should know by now that you can NEVER post too many pics on the .org... as long as they are family safe.Nice rig BT - love my .229 in .357Sig...unfortunatley I dumped about 3K customizing her, and only shoot it about 6 times a year.
Now, get yourself some nice Mitch Rosen leather - Very custom, and very real world user friendly. i'd re-post a pic of my setup, but dont want to Hijack your thread.
Both .40 & .357 are very capable rounds when you see the expansion rate in some ballistic gel. And the weight of the .229 is balanced so perfectly for me, that when I draw from my holster, it comes up & lines up quicker and more accurately than any other rig I've used.
Lil bit o' stopping power there. Remind me not to do any crime in your neck o' the woods!
Some of the comments I've received actually have me reconsidering putting the Homeland Security LE up and picking up a cheaper standard version in .357SIG to "use". I mean it IS a sweet lookin' piece and if it's truly 1 of 1000 it might be worth some $$$ some day. I don't buy many "put up" guns, but this one might be a good one to do that with.No biggie...the .357 sig is just a .40 necked down to 9mm. The clip doesn't know wether it has .40's or .357's in it.
All you need is a .357 barrel. They say you need a different spring too... I keep saying I'm gonna get a .40 barrel for mine, just to make it a little cheaper to plink with.
The best thing I did to mine was put hogue grips on it. They feel like the Pachmeyers on my Blackhawk. Very sweet.
Yea...I know what you mean. I only have a few "put up" guns..my german Luger and an old Winchester 16 ga pump. The rest....I USE! That one being one of 1000....I might put her away too. Some of the comments I've received actually have me reconsidering putting the Homeland Security LE up and picking up a cheaper standard version in .357SIG to "use". Holy shiat batman! That is the very reason I bought the Sig to begin with....lots of my buddies had other semi-autos...Gov't's, Officers mdls etc.. Even the ones that had tons of cheese spent on them weren't as acurate (in my hands) as my Sig is out of the box.
I'm with BT...lets see some pics!
One thing I've learned over the years is that truly great leather is never cheap. Will definitely look into Mitch's suff. The more I hear that, the better it sounds. Was gonna shoot it this evening, but may just put it up unfired for now and be sure what I want to do before I put rounds through it.Your right, good leather is NEVER cheap. It draws real nice from the holster, but I have hard-chrome & quite hoestly the fit is so tight Im not sure If I would holster your beautiful new sig with that finish...might rub off some of the bluing...
Anyhow, It would be a nice ccw unit, but I think I would put that little gem in a nice harwood case and just drool over it![]()
No special occasion. Got my tax money and went in looking to buy a Rock River AR-15 in fact. They had no RR AR's (on backorder... and I get one of the two they have coming.) but my cousin runs the shop and knows my tastes and says, "Let me show you what we just got. I put it in the safe instead of on display because I'm thinkin' about buyin' it.". I'd been wanting another Sig but was waiting to check out the DAK trigger before I bought... and the rest is history. What was the special occasion for the purchase? I got my custom work done when I graduated Skills and got my POST License.![]()
