Ok guys, I am no meat head. Bought the busa because its said to be the most comfortable long haul street bike. Im tall. My wife will be comfy...no nagging. And after all it is a busa!!!! No I have a level head and am stepping up from a gs500 after 2 years. If I drop a tooth or two in the rear and go up one or two in the front will it be a little less responsive on the throttle? Or will it just make it super torquey? its a 01 so no mode select. Just checking to see if there was a way to keep it not so accesible...in case i did have a dumb moment.

I will post pics as soon as I pic her up....this weekend

Wrong direction...

Go -1 on the front sprocket and +2 on the rear and she will wake up big time

Leave it alone...or go +3 in the rear

I'm plus 2,3, or 4 on all of my bikes

Yeah...In your case...I'm thinking maybe you should just leave her as is. My $0.02

Welcome to the board. Ignore the posts that are telling you how to make the Busa faster.....folks on this site just aren't used to a thread asking them how to make the bike go SLOWER. Did you do a lot of research before buying your Busa? Just asking because it is a pretty major step up from a GS500 with only a couple years riding under your belt and if you are asking how to make it slower......????

Yes, did much research. Just dont need all the power(not entire reason for buying). so i thought why not just cut the throttle response a bit and possibly get a little better fuel mileage at the same time. Ive ridden sv1000's tl1000's and gsxr750's. all have ups and downs. And all have plent of power for what I want but none compare in the comfort of the busa in my opinion.

The changes he asked about will make the bike harder to get rolling from a stop AND will put a lot of stress on the clutch. The bike only goes as fast as YOU twist the throttle...if you can't manage good throttle control...then the Hayabusa is not a bike for a inexperienced rider :rulez:

There are riders here that have changed the sprockets for less acceleration and less RPM,s at highway speeds. Going up 1 tooth on the front sprocket would be a good place to start. If that isnt enough you can then easily experiment with the rear sprocket. +1 on the front is approximately the same as -3 on the rear. Good luck to ya !

I agree 100%. These types of threads always get me started on a safety rant so I usually go out of my way to avoid them. I personally think that a rider should have at least 5 years of sportbike experience before buying a Busa and riders who are getting them with little or no experience are playing a game of Russian Roulette. Usually its the ego writing cheques that the skills dept can't cover and the first time you see that corner waaaay off in the distance come at you faster than you ever thought possible you will know of what I speak.

leave it stock or get a different bike. It sounds to me like you will be bogging it down. I don't think your gear change will do quite what you want. probably should of got an older concours.

as I stated before I am not a meat head. I understand and respect the power of the bike and did not buy it for that reason. As I gain more experience on the bike im sure I will enjoy the power as well. I still have the 500 and not sure that it will happen but plan on still riding it as well.

Going up on the front sprocket, or going down one the rear...is just going to make it more difficult to ride at slower speeds. Just take your time to get used to the bike and you should be fine :beerchug:

Welcome to one of the greatest bikes EVER built

ok. How about this. I asked a question... ansewer the question.
I now know the question asked not the right thing to do.....understood. no need to be elitests and throw opinions around of what kind of bike I should ride.
