As a reminder, language rules exist on this board. You are not allowed to post thread titles, thread topics, posts in a thread with vulgar language. Any form of the F word is not acceptable. See rule number one. I admit we have allowed this rule to get a little slack in it, we need to keep it clean folks. Thank you

ssshheezzzzz I can even spell " be " . duh I really have to try and spell correctly when not using the Other words...:) mess'in with ya :)

I used the word "goddamn" and someone deleted it. I mean, seriously, that's considered offensive? Really?

Pretty much. Considered offensive, using Gods name in vain. Would you say it to someones mother in law of which you just met? If you really need to go off on a tangent and really curse up a storm, I bet you there is a forum for that.

so just to clarify, is the use of, for example, the F word prohibited when directed at another member, or just in general?

I.E. saying "you are a fawker" is one thing, but saying "main I was going fawkin fast" is a completely different thing. I have been known to add 'embelishments' to my language, but never direct it at another member.

Actually, I would. (In fact, I would probably use much stronger language than that.) My own Mother-in-Law is known to use the "C-word" from time to time.
I've dealt with a number of Americans in the past and I have noticed that they don't swear much.

Have you ever traveled outside of the U.S.? You'd be shocked at how often people use language that you might consider offensive, but is not at all offensive in their culture.

Come to think of it, one of my brothers is on an athletic scholarship at Bradley University, and he mentioned something about how his room-mate couldn't believe how we all talk to each other. Just cultural differences, that's all.

I understand what you're saying, just reading the British motorcycle mags is an eye opener for me. That being said, the ORG is a subculture of the US culture and as such, collectively chooses to maintain a "higher bar" than many other USA based forums.
If I'm sitting around a campfire with a bunch of folks, drinking and exaggerating about how great I was....that's a whole different time and place to express myself anyway I choose. I really enjoy communicating on the ORG using actual words instead of expletives, I think a lot of others do as well.

BTW, another great thing about this place is the input we enjoy from our international brothers and sisters! It always pleases me when I learn how similar all our experiences are, the Hayabusa and motorcycles in general certainly form a global bond! Raydog

You should come to my kitchen for the day and listen to my prolific use of the f word! American's don't swear much...Gosh, darn man who are you hanging out with and speaking to? Sheez Louise!!!

What if I don't believe in "God"? But I guess since this is your forum and I choose to use it, I have to adhere to your religious beliefs and convictions. Although this forum veers pretty much to the right( cough,cough)....and is very Pro- American.....and pro- religious.....and pro-gun use. 2 of those 3 things I am VERY-ANTI.....all the things that make a left leaning (LOL) Canadian absolutely wild sometimes,I still participate on this forum, and thats my choice and so I follow ( or try) to follow the rules......

but I still I love Christopher Hitchens and enjoy Bill Maher....

Wow, good question. If you dont believe in God then you wont be using the "G D" language. I know there comes a point and time where you can get too politically correct. However, the reason for these rules are not necessarily for political correctness, but for the fact this is a family site. How many of you have read the Mission Statement?

Hayabusa.oRg Mission Statement

To provide a safe, clean and respectful atmosphere for Hayabusa enthusiasts to communicate with each other and stay in contact. The website is to be used for the following but not limited to: sharing stories, technical assistance, updates on personal lives. No member should be in fear of safety or made to feel oppressed because of negative statements of others.

Its not my place to tell you that guns are great or Amercians are always right. It is my place to make sure the rules are followed so anyone and enjoy the forums regardless of their beliefs. Did I answer your question?

It's not about what or who you believe in that offends others,
It's when you force your opinion and or beliefs upon others. That is offensive.
