well I got offered a different position than what I put in for at Raytheon, they want me to take over as their Sr. Tech support specialist. They made a good offer, about $7500 more a year than I am getting here so I will take that and move up there starting monday....................................unless my current company will give me a $10 an hour increase make it retro active to when I took over as supervisor and give me a 1 year contract to the effect of if I get canned they still owe me the remaining salary of the contract

TIME TO PLAY HARDBALL!!!!! I gave them a chance 2 months ago to get me cheap, that offer is off the table now

I feel sorry for the guy but not my fault he finds out today, this has been in the works for 2 months.

that's the name of the game for contracters... if they want the option to drop you at any given moment then of course they're at risk of the resource walking off for something else.

Best of luck...must feel good to know you've got bargaining chips in this. It'll work out well for you no matter what...

Good luck.
Even if they pony up now, will a back up still be waiting for you in a year. Just incase your present employer change thier mind in the year.

by that time I will have completed my certifcation as a manufacturing engineer...........I always have a back up plan

good luck with it all... hopefully it turns out the way you want.

the only life experience I can share, once you sell yourself to a company for a certain $$ figure, its generally pretty hard to get more $$ unless of course your shid dont stink

but seriously, even if the current company ponies up the $$, make sure you have a valid exit strategy that you can deploy quickly if need be. Even with the 1yr buy out clause, so to speak, nothing can be 100% a sure thing. If you somehow get them to agree to the buy out clause, make it a lump sum pay out not montly installments. Two reasons, one they could always stiff you on the monthly and two you wouldnt be able to get any type of gov. financial aid if you are still getting paid (ie. unemployment, etc).

just my 2c worth

Re-enlist? Are you suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury?

Just joking.. More power to you if you do but remember nobody joins the service to get rich. You could do well getting out and picking up a job as a contractor for KBR right back in Iraq if you want to make some bigger bucks.
I only wish I had listened to those who encouraged me to separate after my first enlistment.
