Dude.. I have soo been lurking myself..
Someone else on the board mentioned that after you have been here for awhile. You see the same questions asked, same answers given, same type of posts which in my opinion are just lame. I guess at one time I thought they were cool, funny or whatever. but after you see the same type of posts (I.E. has anyone heard anything about the 2045 BUSA!!! it will have hyper drive, and sub warp capabilities) just gets old.
So you get to the point where you get tired of answering the same questions after you have answered them 50 times already, and you know someone newer and less burned out will answer it, you get tired of the same lame posts, so you get really good at just reading the subject line and bypassing it.
I used to read EVERY post on this board... Now. unless the subject line sounds interesting AND it is originated by someone I know.. I "normally" don’t even open the thread. Sometimes I will if the subject seems interesting enough and I don’t know the originator.
So I barely even lurk.
There is nothing wrong with lurking. nothing wrong with not posting if you don’t think you can provide any substance to the thread.
There have been a lot of times I have opened a thread, started to post a response and thought "my response is going to be lame, why bother" so I cancel and go onto something else.
There have been numerous times in the past I was going to bail on this board.. but people talked me into staying. I calmed down etc. now I just don’t let things get to me. It is a screen in my home. I can shut it off at anytime.
I think (feel) things will probably be changing for the better around here. so dont go anywhere. And if nothing else. You can help in making the change by sticking around and contributing in a positive manner.
I am not saying you haven’t. I don’t even think I saw you pics of chicks thread.
Whatever, point is, if you are feeling bad about something. sitting back and NOT doing anything is not really part of the solution. Participating in threads and ensuring they stay on proper topic is how you can make a difference.
As far as posting pictures of girls on here.. here is my take on it. (and again, I never saw your thread, this is not directed at you, but this issue has come up before so I wanted to offer some insight to the mind set for you to try and help you better understand)
We have women members on this board. We have more now than we have had in a long time.
I often (more times than not) try to place myself in other peoples shoes.. So I think
“hmmmm if the girls on this board were constantly posting up pictures of neked or near neked guys, how would I feel about that?â€
And I guess my answer would be after awhile it would get old, I would start to feel like an outsider because there is no way I would be participating in the threads and after awhile I would probably just get a little discouraged if every time a thread was started some girl turned it into some fantasy thread about guys. After awhile I would just throw my hands in the air and say fug it.
We have had some good quality ladies on this board that have left, they got tired of the BS, they got tired of personal PM’s harassing them with “hey baby, I think your hot†shid like that
So that is why I think we should be careful as to what pics we post.
And to whomever thinks we should start and adult forum (someoe from another thread mentioned this), go for it. Let the ladies post a bunch of pictures of neked guys, see how you feel about it.
Trips me out and how (just) about EVERY male member thinks it is hot for girls to ride bikes, and they think chicks on Busa’s are even hotter, yet our actions on this board often drive away the same women we say we admire and like.
Kind of self defeating I would say.
Anyway GXRFANN, didn’t mean to hijack your thread. Just.. want you to stick around, wanted to give you some insight as to why you might have caught flack about a “pics of chicks†thread.
Trust me, over the years I have done some bad things and got hammered for them, now I am a mod.. live and learn
