always use a wrench to tighten!! hand tight is not enough!!..and clean surface and oil the new o ring and frame filter are junk!!..I only use OEM..

But if its that much of a concern, sure, buy the filter cap and torque that baby down to spec: 14.5 ft-lbs.

Yep, concur. Or, at least, it makes sense to do so while the bike is still under warranty.

On my first oil change the old seal was bulging out after wrenching on the new filter. Thought I had ruined the new filter until I realized it was just the old seal. Rookie mistake but I am not the most clever motorcycle wrench

I've had two different car mechanics tell me fram filters are very low quality and not to use them. (I don't have any validation). But after I heard it TWICE... Since then I've been using WIX.
