Put the good one on the shelf, and keep looking...then put the other one on the shelf when you find it.
A set of slip-ons makes a very Noticeable difference on a Gen2, not in hp...but handling, you can actually feel the weight loss when flicking left to right through curves.
Plus you'll get about 2hp, lol

An inexpensive OEM may be required to start this riding season. Please see above:

Muffler Thoughts

If you bought a Gen2 new in 2012, Suzuki gave you your choice of a full single Yoshimura, or a set of dual Yoshimura slipons, with your choice of stainless-steel or carbon-fiber mufflers, installed for free...and Suzuki approved no tune required.

Making me jealous will accomplish nothing.

My sight is set on the Signature R-77 with permanent baffle. As I say, "Noise is for you, not for me." (You can quote me on that.)

Plus you'll get about 2hp, lol

Bam! Now we're talkin'!

I get the cost factor...and noise isn't my thing either.
But, I Really appreciate the guys with loud exhaust being around when I'm riding...as you can hear which way they went...and I'll go the other way and the fuzz can chase them, lol

Ah, I remember that muffler post now...and didn't realize that the R77's were not being made anymore.
I have seen alot of them for sale on ebay over the years too, many with stupid prices, but there are still deals out there.
You could set an ebay alert for them out of curiosity, as you never know what pops up when.
They come up for sale here too on occasion.
If I happen accross a reasonably priced one, or a good oem muffler I'll let you know.
If I had more space I would've buying all the cheap oem exhausts and getting all the free ones, as someone always ends up needing or wanting them down the road.

And do you want the slip-ons or the full single?
As I will look around

I would love a full exhaust but adding a cat is an issue that I do not want to deal with. The Signature series are only slip-ons and that is my target. As I iterated I cannot purchase them at this time so I would not do any work. These are out of stock at Yoshi and consequently most vendors. Dennis Kirk shows them but who knows if they actually have stock until one calls right?

SKU: 11210E0220
Signature Series
HAYABUSA 08-20 R-77 Stainless Slip-On Exhaust, w/ Carbon Fiber Mufflers

There are no cats in the full or slipon R77's for the Gen2; but why would you have to add one?

And of course if you go with slip-ons you can keep the stock header and cat, but there are few full dual exhaust headers that work with any slip-ons too.
Busas look good with dual mufflers.

The smell between my non-cat VFR and the Hayabusa is significant. Let us just call the catalyst, circa 1975, the last (and only?) helpful thing the EPA did.

Maybe it's just your VFR then?
I have smelled stronger exhaust fumes from alot of bikes with full exhsusts, but my Gen2 with a full dual Akropovic with baffles in had no noticeable exhaust smell.

Akropovic S-S13SO2-HRC slip-ons indicate that they are certified at 80dB. Revzilla shows them as sold out. Good parts are vaporizing for my bike. Do I have to get a gen 3 now with those trashy user assist features and Buck Rogers-era angular design just to get the setup that I want?

I hate this economy where selection is being annihilated.

There is a little allen on each side. Sounds like you got to the right one, do the same on the left. Never needed a heat gun on any that I've done. I loosen them a whole bunch before attempting removal. Just be careful, if you back them all the way out, you'll loose some spacers and washers.

These are both loosened. I initially did them a small amount understanding that the clamp should realistically loosen. Then I loosened them until I saw only 1/4" or so protruding from the nut side. Still these are not budging.

The bike has something like 2500 miles on it. Maybe it has not flexed much yet?

I think I will get the Weller corded heat gun with reducer. For sure I can hit the outside one, and I can only see about reaching #2.

The air-box is off! I can see brake lines! I put a garbage bag around each bore and tied them tight. I assume there is nothing else to worry about unless you guys tell me such.

So you are right, you guys are always right, and I appreciate the input. I used a long screwdriver to push all of clamps fully apart. I used a hair dryer on the outermost one. Maybe that helped to loosen the clamp further, I do not know.

The temperature is plummeting. I do not want to be out there. We shall see when I get the gumption to replace the lines. The lines are the key. When done I can then reassemble the front, lower the bike, remove the shock, and start to imagine riding time.
