I am new to this forum and I just saw my first Hayabusa today. All I have to say is I fell in love.

I have been reading over the forums and didn't see anything about this. I am wanting to get a bike soon. I have never rode a bike and I don't know what would be a good "starter" bike. I would like something for a bigger person (okay something that a bigger person would look good on). I am 6ft, about 300 lbs.

Thanks and all of your bikes look good.

I think you should start out on a 750 only because of your weight. Normaly you would want to start out on a 600. Good luck and :welcome: to the .org

My '06 Busa is the first bike that I had ever rode. People will tell you that they are too fast to learn on, or get a cheap bike to learn then trade it in after. Well I didnt want something that was small and I didnt want a junk bike. I'm 6.0 as well and about 205, and I didnt want to look like a man riding a childs bike.:rofl::rofl:

+1 and actually depending on your experince you might want to check out a 750 or 800 cruiser for your first bike. Less stuff to break. I started on a 750 nighthawk which would work very well for your needs and you can get them realatively cheap since they are not "main stream" popular.

I'd say start on a cruiser to learn how to lean without fighting it. Big Engine cruiser. Over 1000cc. Then go for the Busa.

Thanks for all of the information. I am going to start small and then work up the beast. I just know my wife is wanting me to get a bike. Yes, I did say that. I  that woman.

For your size maybe a Suzuki Bandit 1200/1250(depends on year). It will feel more comfortable for you. Not overly expensive and has a good resale value. All though starting out with something like an SV650 would do you better.

People have had luck with a Hayabusa as a starter bike, but Not suggested.

Hayabusa - 573lbs / 86" long
Bandit 1250 - 560lbs / 84" long
Sv650 -370lbs / 82"long

As can see the sv650 is about same length ,but a lot lighter. The weight gives beginners an advantage over heavier bikes. 200lbs less then the Busa. Meaning that if for some reason you accidentally lose your balance, you have less weight to deal with. Rather then risking a bigger injury of yourself or the bike.

Even the most skilled of us have dropped our bikes by being caught off guard.

Wouldn't worry to much about how you look on the bike. Your health shouldn't be judged on looks.

:welcome: You'll come to find, there is nothing like riding and owning a Hayabusa.

P.S. Get an '07 Vigor Blue, it's the fastest color.
