I know it's been talked about before, but I'm a little concerned.

On Friday when I first got the chance to ride the busa in Hollywood, the fan came on but the needle didn't get past the 1/2 line (maybe just a little bit). I guess it's because all the stop n' go traffic and not being about to really get it up to speed for very long with all the stoplights.

Tonight I went for a ride around Hollywood and Beverly Hills because I was bored and the bike's fan still came on even though I wasn't in any kind of traffic jam. Is it just because I'm having to keep the bike in lower gears and stopping at so many stoplights? I'm just concerned and wanting to know if this is normal/expected...

Thanks.

Here's a pic, because I know we all like them.

Rodeo Drive around midnight.

(unkleslapnutz @ Nov. 06 2006,04:42) Swap the fluid and fan. Your fan will still kick on in traffic but wont stay on as long.
swap to what???

Name the fan. Name the proper fluid. Thanks, bro!

I just "feel" like I'm overheating, here! The bike just does NOT seem normal like it did back in AL. That's all....

OH... thanks to those who rated my butt above Paris Hilton.... hehe!!!

It's that crazy California gas......

Way different form our NorthEastern Blend.

Fan = Muzzy

Coolant = Engine Ice or Water Wetter. I have Water Wetter in mine and haven't had any problems at all. My needle goes no higher than BARELY over the halfway mark, even when I'm stuck in traffic in 90+ degree temps. I heard Engine Ice is the absolute best thing to use but since Water Wetter was cheaper and Engine Ice was harder to find, I decided to try it out W.W. first.

Engine Ice (No mixing needed)

Water Wetter (Mix with H2O)

You can try some water wetter or engine ice to try to get the bike to run a little cooler if it's really bothering you. Changing the fan won't make the bike run any cooler, only pull through more air to cool it down after it reaches the temp that kicks the fan on.

below highway speeds the fan will tend to come on even in cooler temps. air flow to the radiator to cool this engine needs to be higher as this is a larger engine and produces alot of heat. don't worry about it unless the temp needle goes to the 3/4 or higher, side of the gauge, and definately worry if the light comes on. if your really worried about temps your could install an actual temp gauge to read actual coolant temps, but on a near stock bike I would think that this would be overkill.

anyone have any reports on the fan switch relocater from 1300cycles?
