I agree with you. I think it is a foreign knock off. Doesn't mean it's a bad piece, it just won't bring the money that a Browning would.

Is the gun blue or painted black?

MSR $781

"This guns finish may be confused with recent imports which have a 'black' finish. These black finish guns are painted rather then blue and some parties have been selling them as original military FN's"

Regardless, the gun is 'off the grid' and can't be traced back to you. Take it a local reputable gun shop and have them look it up for you in the Blue Book. But is is definitely a keeper....can't beat the price!

Something looks wrong when comparing the magazine well in the first pic, and looking at the double stack magazine further down. No way you can get a double stack in a magazine opening that small (without a really big hammer).

Double stack 9mm Browning High power. It fits, i have one. 13 round mag means it was bought before the 10 round mag ban back in 92-93 (brady bill) It's a fine specimen of a well made belgium gun. It's a SEMI-automatic. Semi as in it will only fire ONE round per trigger pull. Automatic as in it will eject the spent case, strip off another round and load it in the chamber, **** the hammer and be ready for the next trigger pull to start the process over again.
They are a well made gun and you should take pride in ownership.
But please Do NOT call it a peacemaker. Those are Colt SSA's (Single Action Army) pistols.
Ask Dan..he has a matched set of SSA's

Yeah that's true. I hadn't noticed that. I can't remember if the Hi-Power had a single stack mag, but that one on the table looks almost like a short Beretta magazine. It's got those depressions in the sides.

I'm not sure that magazine is for that pistol. But that may just be the angle of the pictures. It's hard to tell.

Oh...well if it was in the pistol and everything cycles then you're fine.

I stand corrected.

It just looked from the pictures like that mag well was too small for a double stack magazine.

No worries.

Take the advice of our gun gurus here and go squeeze off a few rounds with it...Safely! Good backstop
Ear protection
Practice good gun safety

If you're not a gun person you might surprise yourself. Most newbies I've taken shooting have loved it even if they expected to hate it.

If you don't have a deep seated aversion to gun ownership, I would keep it. I had a Hi-Power many years ago and sold it to by a 1911. In hindsight, I should have just saved up.

We need to find a range around Robbinsville and make the world safe from paper targets.

Here in Colorado you can find info online at the Sheriffs Office and then under frequently ask questions page will give you lots of info like what you are asking. I know this is different from state to state. Go and find yours online and see what they say! My browning is new as in never fired and has a great feel to it. If you want to sell then let me know I do love to collect!

Transport it unloaded in a locked box in the trunk. Ammo in a separate container. Unloaded means magazine out and empty.

Seriously sounds as if you know little to nothing about guns. If that's the case, figure out the laws first. Then leave it in a locked box till you find out how to operate the thing safely.

Then worry about blowing big holes in intruders. At this point it seems as though your just as likely to blow a big hole in yourself or a loved one.
