If my dog bites someone they are not suppose to, the dog(and me) can be in trouble? A police dog bites an officer he's not suppose and what happens?

I saw an episode of cops last night where the K9 chomped the perp.
Afterward when he was oozing the officers there looked at it and said it didn't look too bad and to quit complaining.
So why are you?

lol yea I've seen wat them dog can do to ppl and wat I got really wasn't too bad but its amazing the damage them dogs can do to ppl. if a cop inflicted 10% of the damage a K9 does at times he wud be in federal prison cause I hav seen ppl get f-ed up!

its work so we chalk it up to "oh well, shudda got the hell outta his way". if he bit a civilian who didn't deserve which had happened many times before then they sue the city. I cud sue too but won't.

A department I worked for had a Rottweiler. If you sent him in for a building search you hoped there was someone to find. That dog thought he was there to bite someone once he was sent into a building. If there was not someone in there, he thought anyone was fair game when he came out, uniformed or not. He was big and awesome for crowd control!

yea we try to do positive searches when no suspect is found cause they can get a little frustrated (positive, meaning put the sleeve on and hav em bite you so he thinks he got someone). yea ill bet that rotti was quite intimidating!

this dog has some Malinos in him and is very agile. was gonna jump on top of car but since I've seen him jump over cars I didn't see the point.

Hopefully the skin tears and punctures are the worst of it...infection should not be a risk...once the swelling / trauma goes away use your leg...resting is good / bad...getting the blood flowing helps in more ways than one. Hopefully when you reunite with the said k9 he / she is more polite. Having been bite before the force of the initial bite is strong...when they make wild animal sounds it almost seems they bite down twice as hard...without shaking their head...hopefully you get a cake out of it with the guys at the office.

So did they quarantine the dog? Sounds like that dog should have never been on duty if it doesn't follow commands, and its well known that it doesn't follow commands. Good thing there wasn't any kids around that he might have decided would have tasted better the you.

him like most ALL police dogs do not release immediately. in training they tend to but in real life situations when a dog who is extremely high in drive bites flesh (blood) they never release immediately.

been a cop 18 years and have seen probably 10-15 different police dogs who are ALL trained by the Connecticut State Police which has one of the best K9 programs anywhere and I have yet to ANY police dog release immediately when they taste blood from a LIVE person and not a jute sleeve or suit. in fact police departments send their dogs and handlers to the CT state Police from all over the world.

quarantine the dog? why would they do that? its not a stray its a Police Officer who of course all of his shots are up to date. never heard anywhere ever of a police dog being quarantined after a dog bite? not sure where ur gettn that from.

its not a pansy Schutzhund sport dog its a real hard police dog.

yea flash bites are pretty common with amped up dogs. especially wen in drive.
