Hi all, noobie here.

Just wondering what tyres others have fitted to their Gen 3 Busas.

I've owned my 2023 since March 2024, and have until now, stuck with Bridgestones S22. Found them ok, for fast back road and A and B road riding, plus a little trip down to Nurburg last May, which did of course start squaring off. But it was the Brands trackeve where I really felt let down by this tyre, the new-ish rear felt greasy, and only improved when I stuck more air in and brought them somewhere back towards road temp (28c cold), but, heavy bike etc etc..

Anyhow, 2,000 miles later and I need a new set ahead of this year's riding. Much of the same, but looking perhaps towards a sport touring tyre which is not what I've used before. I've run Metz M9RR for a few years previous - MT10, R1, GSXR1000, etc, Racetecs and Corsa/Super Corsa before that - and although fantastic rubber for my riding, I know the rear would last about 500 miles on the big beast

I'm considering Michelin Pilot Road 6, Pirelli Angel GT, Metz M9RR (poss), or Metz Sportec 02.. any views, thoughts etc?

Any other brand/model I should look at / consider?

I only do about 3-4k a year now, so if I could get to the end of 2026 with some rubber left and a big smile as I reflect on some more great memories, I'll be happy.

Cheers

Dont like any of above, my go to tyres are michelin power 5/6 or pirelli diablo rosso as for me grip is more important than longevity.

Go 190/55R17 for the rear.
The way I've always been tbf, but if more long distance is on the cards I'm thinking I should look at something a little harder. but still need confidence of grip in the back twisties. Noted re 55 profile. Cheers

Bridgstone T33 Tires have been great for me................I've always loved Bridgestone Tires personally on my bikes.

I put a set on last spring, rode 5000km on them and they still look brand new................They are supposed to last at least 15,000-18,000km

It's a great sport touring tire, with a softer side for corner carving but still able to go the distance.
For Reference, I got 6400km out of my S22 Tires.

Have you tried aftermarket S22’s or only OEM S22’s.
Factory tyres are very rarely the same as similar looking tyres fitted aftermarket.

I run S22’s in both a 50 profile and a 55 profile on various Busa’s.
I have another Busa with a 200/50 that will be going back to a 190.

My Gen-3 will get new tyres at its next service (soon), I’ll make sure they have S23’s in a 190/55 in stock ready. I’m pretty keen to try the S23’s.

I’m a big fan of (aftermarket) S22’s. They offer the combination of grip, wear, feedback, availability, sizes and cost I want. Part of my love for them is I’ve had them on a lot of bikes, from my naked bikes to my H2 SX, I couldn’t be more familiar with them and they never give me any surprises. I’m a bit of a Luddite and find comfort in familiarity… when it’s good.

Solo rider, 82kg, country roads around the mountains and dams. Very VERY rarely ever ride in the rain.

To be fair, almost all the tyres listed in this thread would be OK, it’s just which ones are folks favourites, which suits their needs, which they get a good deal on etc.

Only tyre I refuse to use are the double centre grove Angel GT2’s. I removed a near new pair from a bike before I punched a hole in the scenery, and I wouldn’t buy them if they were $1 pair.

I didnt liked s22, lasted less than 5k km rear, michelins power 6 now are at 3k km and looks like new and did not notice that grip is worse than s22.
PS I do track days and I felt like s22 at hot day tends to overheat for me... I am michelin/pirelli so everyone uses what he/she likes and can afford, new rubber is new rubber doesnt matter the brand :)

I’m fairly set on Michelin Power 6 for my next set, but I keep reading good reports on the Bridgestone S23’s.
That said the new Bridgestone Battlax RS12 look interesting, but not found any reviews yet.
I also run Michelin Road 6’s on my other bike and for all weathers they are very good.

I don’t include OEM tyres when I compare them.

I don’t compare worn v new tyres.

I’m a road rider, track tyres are irrelevant to many of us.

My personal use is an 83kg solo rider, or warm, dry, twisty roads around the mountains and dams.

I’m currently running 3 pairs of wheels for my Busa.
One has a matched pair of S22’s.
One has a matched pair of Angel GT2’s.
One has a matched pair of Pilot Powers.

They are not the same.

I've always been a Q3 guy also. I cannot comment on thread as I'm still on me Battleaxes with Gen3. I've noticed Dunlop is never mentioned by the European guys out here. May I ask why?

I have the Road 6 and it is really nice tire. Just check production date. A year ago they had a problem with the front, causing the bike to pull left. Many got those, me as well.

You don’t need the GT. It has a heavier carcass for heavy bikes, such as a Goldwing or the 1600 BMW. For the Hayabusa it will just add unnecessary weight.

What width is your rear wheel? As for me 200 tire looks even more narrower, but taller than 190 so you loose some contact patch. Currently I am on 200, but will go back to 190/55.

Hi. It is a Marvic 6 3/4. What do you think of the hearing 20 front 34 rear. With the over drive 5th and 6th! The hole trans is all billet gears. I also have a lock up clutch with air assist. For every 1 lb of air it gives 3 lbs more lock up presser.

I think it is a rocket!
Only seen such wheels once on Ducati in person as far as remember three spoke.
Marchesini/BST/ROTOBOX are more popular here where I live.
