Gen 1 crankcase breather catch can

Has anyone ran a crankcase breather catch can? Figure it would help keep crankcase contamination out of the airbox.

hi @mike04busa

if it really is just a (absolutely normal/usual) thin film of oil (oil mist), then don't worry - that's absolutely normal and can be found on dozens of other motorcycles as well.

only if a real, larger puddle of oil forms in the airbox, you should do a pressure loss test to see whether too much exhaust gas is getting past the pistons and into the transmission (blow by).
a normal blow-by is approx. 6-18 (20)% and only from approx. 22% (or more) you should think about an engine overhaul.
worn piston rings, clogged oil scraper rings, worn cylinders etc.

so again - don´t worry
even if the engine needs 0.5 liters / 6000 km, everything is really in the "green area" and you don't have to worry about that low oil consumption
