I REALLY like the part about breaking the backs of the speculators by announcing release of 1/3 or the national reserve.....get them out of the market for good.

Newt is not presidental material, but he'd to a great job in someone's administration...

I agree about deterring the speculators in the market by releasing reserves. Markets should be determined more by actual value, not by what someone thinks oil might be worth in a few months. Forcing them to lose out on their gamble is a great way to keep speculation in check. I wonder about the rest though... Isn't there a reason why it's currently illegal to drill in the gulf and in the deep ocean? Seems he has a short memory..

Speculation works boths ways. It's near impossible to determine todays cost today due to the time to market and storage capacity.

So who pays when they lose out on their gamble? That loss won't be passed on to the consumer via higher prices? That only works with price fixing. Works until they're out of business.

Don't think his memory is short, vid pre dates the BP incident.

The government should really watch this! Prices are going higher and higher up to mount everest and it is better to commute sometime.
