I finally got a hayabusa today. It was a long road and I have been lurking here off an on but I chose the busa over the zx14.

Got a used one, specs:
2006 Red and Black
8.5K miles
Mods on Bike,
421 Yosh Carbon Fiber
Pow Commander
Frame Sliders
HID
carbon fiber stickie stuff here and there on bike

No stock stuff was still available for the bike.

Missing: Owners Manual, tool kit,
Price, approx 6k

Look forward to riding a bit more this year and a lot the next year. Plan on taking it on long trips possibly the next Around The Lakes trip. Still waiting for my passport to get renewed. I will post pics soon.

Seeking Help with:
1. Good place for cigarette lighter adapter.
2. Suggestion for saddlebags, semi rigid preferred.
3. heli or some other advice on raising the bars a bit, I'm 5.6 ft.
4. I'm running regular gas now. That's ok right?
5. Some way to add a ram mount to this for my cell, my last bike had bars.
6. Speedo variance. About how fast or slow is the speedo?
7. Is this a real choke? I thought these were fuel injected.
8. Easy way to add a gear indicator to bike.
9. Centerstand?

Had fun riding it a little today, I got it up to a little speed before it got real cold, in northern Illinois region.

Chose gen 1 because of looks and supposedly, regular gas is ok?

Anyway, look forward to partaking more in the forum since I finally got 1!

With a Gen I, GiPro with Gear indicator, plug and play all day. Or Smithabusa makes a Gear Indicator. boostbysmith.com - Home

Congrats and welcome! 2Ton gave some great answers to your questions. Lots of possibilities to this bike and most likely someone here has done it.

1. Good place for cigarette lighter adapter.

Hard mount one in the dash area or zip tie it to your triple tree. I've also had them installed in the tail and a SAE plug under the seat (for battery tender) and a Coax plug in front of the seat (for electric vest).

I've also put a loose Cig Lighter outlet in the tail of the Busa.

8. Easy way to add a gear indicator to bike.

There are two models to choose from: GIpro Gear Indicator w/ ATRE, or without the ATRE feature.

With the ATRE: Just plug it in.

And without the ATRE, called the X-Type, which also works on the Gen-I Busa, a bit more universal and a small amount of splicing. This one is also smaller in size.
