frame sliders aren't for protecting your frame...they were designed by race teams to protect the motor to keep a bike in the race. The were named frame sliders because they mount to the frame. QUOTE]
Please share the link to where this info came from. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is anxious to know?
I didn't get it from a link...I got it from past knowledge and I am sure if I dug hard enough I could find something...
like I said...I dug hard enough to find what I did.
A slider isn't gonna protect your frame because most frame damage is done to the neck region of a bike. That comes from the bike striking something either preslide or during the slide. "good" sliders should keep the bike on the ground and slow the bike so it doesn't barrel roll.
Ask your race buddies....would they rather protect their $1500 or less "race" frame or their 2000+ dollar engine. right now its a toss up on the used market, which one costs more. However, labor costs....it costs less and takes less hours to swap a frame off a good motor than to rebuild a motor with a damaged crank. Step up to a race team and I guarantee they have ten fold in their motor compared to their frames.
