I use a piece of 2X4 under the kickstand. Stand on the left side also, nudge the bike upright with my hip while pulling the bike toward me with my left hand palm up on the grabrail on the rear fender under the hump. Slide the stand under the spools and press down. Piece of cake. If you pull the bike against your hip it will not go over center and fall over as it's very stable.

Okay okay okay, since I operate a stand company and have made well over 4,300 stands and used them probably 500 times I'll write a lengthy piece on how to do this. First, don't use a 2x4. Next, pre-adjust your rear stand to the correct width to fit your spools. Next, place the rear stand at the back of the bike with the handle pointing up in the air. Next, stand at the right rear of the bike and use your right arm to wrap your arm around the tail and pull the bike up off center. Either the exhaust or the tail should push into your torso, thus keeping it from falling in either direction. Next, carefully position the stand up to the spools/sliders being careful not to bang it into the swingarm and scratch it. Then, while putting pressure on the stand to keep the bike upright, move your hand to the rear seat and pull backwards on the bike as you push down on the handle. Pulling backwards on the bike is just a little extra security to keep the bike from unhooking from the stand while lifting. That's it!
