Empty fuel tank gauge

Hi All,

Would like to ask if unfortunately we run until the tank dry.

Where will the fuel gauge needle pointing at?

The base of the red reserve zone? The needle stopping stud (where the needle rest) or in between them?

Not sure if it helps, but I can tell you that my Gen 1 will consistently go 200 miles on a tank.

Been driving with phobia and keep praying not to push the busa. It's no joke pushing a busa. I am like 245pounds and I am still having difficulties to push a busa...

The highest mileage I had on my Gen 2 (not yet stall but driving my nerves!) is 199 miles. Today I just manage to touch 200miles! And pumped 4.8 gallons... I remb the specs is 5.3 gallon right?

The needle is at just end of the red bar. Hence I am thinking is it totally empty and if it's empty is the red bar the limit or the needle stud that it resting on is the limit?

Don't worry about it, and do your best not to let it get that low.
When the fuel gets really low the pump can suck air, which shortens it life, and the last of the fuel at such a low level will have all of the crud in it that has collected over time, which will gum up the internal fuel filter.

Yeah, walking sux. Maybe toss a 1/2 liter of petrol in your luggage if you frequently push the limit? Or get some comfortable walking shoes.

Yeah, walking sux. Maybe toss a 1/2 liter of petrol in your luggage if you frequently push the limit? Or get some comfortable walking shoes.

I raced an enduro once on a MX bike with like a 1.7 gallon tank. I made it through by carrying a Diet Dr. Pepper bottle of non-ethanol in my pack. Some guys swore by Gatorade, but I have my standards...

@pashnit carries at least one small tank of extra fuel with him, and I think it's a one liter bottle, but I'm not sure.
He is the guy to ask about riding on fumes and the best container to buy.

My home to work place is about 63 mile to and flo. So every 3 working day would be like 189miles.

In Singapore, petrol Ron 98 is like ~$8.50/gallon. 10 miles down to cross the border into Malaysia, price for Ron 97 is like ~$3.14/gallon.

Sometimes I might end up having to pump on my 3rd working day. And usually I might top up 0.4 gallon as a fail safe! That 0.4 gallon can get me nearly 1 gallon

I’ve found out that when my low fuel light comes on I have exactly one gallon left. So, 38 mpg=38 miles left. I stretched that to 44 once running 55 mph in the Nevada desert one trip. I took on 5.1+ gallons and I have a CA bike with a listed capacity of just five gallons. Depending on where I’m riding I try to fill up between 150-180 miles. Remember too that most fillups are when the bike is on the side stand. Upright it takes more.

Taller gearing can give you a small gain in mpg...depending on your right wrist, lol
You can go up from a stock rear 50 series tire to a 55, or go from a 43 tooth rear sprocket to a 41, or from an 18 tooth front sprocket to a 19 (Gen1 stock gearing is 17/40, Gen2 and Gen3 stock gearing is 18/43).
If it's time to change sprockets and chain anyway, go from the stock 530 width chain to a 520.
With an aluminum rear sprocket, you will save over 2 lbs of rotating mass.
The 520 chains like EK and D.I.D have higher tensile strengths than the stock 530's do.
The benefit will be small, but it's there, and after a certain point it's basically free anyway, as you will eventually have to replace the chain and sprockets.
An ecu flash will can also set the stp's(secondary throttle plates) to open at a more efficient rate(Gen 2).
