Cycle Gear "TRACKSIDE" Front Stand Question

Just picked up a front stand made by "TRACKSIDE" and I just tried it out and it works fine but it kind of chews up the bottom fork hole and a little bit on the stand. When I put the bike back on the ground it had a nice metal sliver remain on the stand that fell off. Wasn't too happy about that.

Here is what the stand looks like: Cycle Gear - TRACKSIDE: Front Stand,

Bought it used and don't know if there are any attachments or whatever to put on it. Looks like there are curved steel allen screws on top of it. Any of you guys have any experience with this type of stand?

It looks like it is missing something at the top. I have no damage to my forks, but there are marks on my front stand.

if the fittings aren't too tight inside the lower fork hole you could try some heat shrink tubing around them or maybe some tool dip? You'll likely have to replace it frequently but at least it won't be chewing metal up.

Go to Home Depot and buy a can of "Plasti-Dip'

This is same stuff you have on all your tool handles.
The rubber that they dip them in.

You can buy a can of it for like 5 bucks.
Open it up turn stand over and dip each piece into it.
Let it dry and you will have a nice solid rubber in between the two contact points.

Might work if you have enough space as it adds a bit of thickness to it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've worked with the plasti-dip, but didn't think about it!
