Can someone tell me how to check wheel balance?

Hi, I hit a 2x4 on the freeway the other day doing about 80mph....while I have not experienced any syptoms of an out of balance wheel , id feel better if I could at least check the front balance.

I have some Handy stands so id like to check the front wheel balance. I know I need to put it up on stands then pull off the calipers. But what do I do next? I know its something like turn the wheel 25 degrees, let it go and it should turn very little on its own, turn it some and same thing.

Thanks

I'm not an expert, but I've heard back in the old days and racers today;

spin the wheel, the heaviest part of the wheel should rotate to the bottom. Maybe mark where it stops the first time, then spin again and its unlikely, if the wheel is balanced, that it'll stop in the same spot.

Maybe someone else who knows more will add to this.

Myself, you have to take the tire off anyway, so just take it to a shop and have them spin it. They shouldn't charge but $15-20.
