Buying race pants,how short should I order them from my reg pant length???

Looking to buy a pair of puck wielding leather race pants,and a friend said I need to order a pair shorter than my regular pant size to allow my boot to fit properly.
Can anyone help!!!!!!!!!

I always prefer to try on a pair first. Then order them from some where online. Alot of the different companies run their sizes a little different. My alpinestar size is different from my technik size and my daniese size is like three sizes bigger.
