Buying a new Busa

I am looking to trade in my Bandit 1200 for a new Busa. I was wondering what people are paying OTD and how much negotiating I can do on the MSRP, which went up from 04. I live in the Boston MA area so will likely pay a bit more than in other areas of the country. Anyone know what the invoice price is?

Also would be interested in what people think about the extending warranty. Generally I would avoid it but wonder if the FI system on the Busa is reliable and trouble-free.

I would imagine there is a good demand for these beautiful machines

Haggle.....YES! If the local dealer doesn't want to work with you, you might have to travel to get a better deal. Otherwise, the local dealer won't do you any favors. IMO....a good deal is anything under $10k OTD(tax, title, license, etc.) ready to ride. Invoice is around $9,200 but I don't think you will be able to get one that cheap this time of year. Once the 06's are hitting the floor maybe but not Mar./Apr. time frame as summer gets closer.

As for the extended warranty, what are your plans for the bike? IMO, I wouldn't waste the money on it. Esp. if you plan to mod, you will probably void the warranty anyway. Otherwise if you keep it stock and plan to put on LOTS of miles, the extended warranty might be what you need for piece of mind.

I bought mine in the middle of summer for 10,700 OTD. With my untimely purchase, I feel that I did pretty good getting the price I wanted. Definitely haggle, my style is a little different. I just go in and tell them the price I want out the door, I give them a fair price so they know I'm not playing and come with check in hand. If they want to sell it, they'll go through with the deal if they don't I just turn around and start looking other places. I don't know how the market price is in MA, but I think you should be able to get a Busa at a good price. If not, buy out of state and have a bike mover bring it to you!

Just my .02 cents:;):

I had bought mine in March 04 for $10,600 OTD. Probably could've got him down a little bit more, but felt like it was a fair price.

$10,700 for me. Haggle if you can. It's hard to be convincing, though unless your a world champion poker ace...the salesman/woman will be able to read the hunger in your eyes for that busa...

If you are trading in a bandit, you are pretty much at their mercy. Not the best bike to trade in, value wise! I'd work with my local dealer if possible? It's always nice to have a friend close by. If you buy from out of town, don't expect any favors from your local dealers and rightfully so!

Without haggling, the ones in VA are around $10,900, excluding tax, title and tags...

I bought my '03 new in August of '03, and got it for $9500 OTD...waiting until the '06s are on their way may be your best bet...

Think about trying to sell your Bandit yourself? You'll get a better deal than they'll give you as trade-in.

Good luck!
