Maybe in the wrong sections, but I need help on burning DVD's to my hard drive, currently I can burn as an .iso file but wanna be able to save as an .avi or .mpg. Is there a program out there that can convert iso to avi or burn a dvd straight to avi/wmv/mpg format? thanks in advance

Is it okay to make backups of DVDs you own? legally? I've had a lot of movies that friend's borrowed over the years and never brought back. It would be nice if I still had a copy for when I want to watch them.

How do the files work? Do you open the dvd on your computer and it goes to the menu, just like it would on a dvd player?

I Do not burn them as ISO files...they tend to run into file size issues IME..

I use CloneDVD 4.. does a fine job and they also have a number of converter packages to convert or get DIVX
Just install the software (free trial) and do a DVD to DVD copy. I run a dual layer setup and so can run at 1 to 1 without any compression and the dvd is the same as the original..
