What do I think? I think we're gonna lose more rights and have more stupid, off the cuff laws passed. Im curious to hear what the bomb was made out of so I know what kitchen cleaners and lawn car products Ill need a background check for.

A buddy manages a retail store in Times Square. He took this picture shortly after the bombings.

I was watching fox right after Megyns show when Shep said there was some sort of explosion and it just escalated from there. My heart and prayers truly go out to those injured in Boston. That video of the guy in the wheelchair with his lower legs blown off was just heartbreaking. Maybe just maybe people will realize its not the method of delivery thats the problem, its the people behind it but I wont hold my breath. Its just evil to target innocent people like that.

sorry if that hurts ur feelings but its a fact that we have thousands of people in this country that hate the government more and more every day. and most are gun fanatics that are simply pissed off and want to hurt people.

yea its not possible or likely that a home grown terrorist could blow anything up....:whistle

a little history maybe you have forgooton about..... in 1993, Timothy McVeigh drove to Waco, Texas during the Waco Siege to show his support of GUNS. At the scene, he distributed pro-gun rights literature and bumper stickers, such as "When guns are outlawed, I will become an outlaw." He told a student reporter:

"The government is afraid of the guns people have because they have to have control of the people at all times. Once you take away the guns, you can do anything to the people. You give them an inch and they take a mile. I believe we are slowly turning into a socialist government. The government is continually growing bigger and more powerful and the people need to prepare to defend themselves against government control."

gee, I cant imagine anyone how anyone would think an American could set off bombs in America.... take the blinders off.

timothy mcveigh....didnt place those other 3 bombs in OK that the govmerent doesnt talk about or is in the history books...but you can find the video footage of them removing them from the tv camera crews that recorded it.

also might i suggest as some light reading for you...william coopers' "behold a pale white horse"... take a "intellegence officers" take on the past 40 years...oh...wait...he was discredited too by the goverment....interesting

GNBRETT, I just read your comments on this thread and to be honest, with your lack of common sense and reasoning I think your dept should reevaluate your mental stability and ability to carry out your duties as an officer of the law. Ive heard alot of self righteous idiots in my days but you have consistently had some of the worst logic period. I would not rely on you to watch my back. As far as Im concerned the Connecticut public would be safer with you at the french fry station than with Police authority. Im done with you.

What are you guys thinking ?

Looking at this from outside your country I can only applaud the way people just jumped to action and help those that have been injured, we had a story here where an Aussie who was going to run in the Marathon but never made it on time and was in his hotel when the Bomb went off and was watching it on tv, he just ran out of the hotel and headed down to the finish line and helped with the injured, this is just one story and there will be many more, these people that go in and attend such a scene deserve to be thanked beyond anything we can offer them, they are the silent heroes that we never hear about. God bless all that have been effected by this barbaric event.

My thoughts and prayers to all those injured and to the friends and family of the deceased. I am sure the police or who ever will catch them, if domestic or international and then let justice be served.

Wow, some people can really mess up a thread. By the way, if you go to your Contacts page, look on the left, Edit Ignore List, you can add names to that and Ignore people. Just sayin....

What are you guys thinking ?

That this is a terrible act of terrorism...
That my heart goes out to all who are affected....
That if this was done by foreign terrorist we need to take action quickly and effectively....
That if this was home-grown terrorism you can watch out, Obama will be all over it, politicizing it, saying scary things....
That, indeed as Zuk said, we live in a messed up world.

and what is not on the local news here that I've heard yet... but from a friend that lives in NYC.

Well, the bomb squad is all over the place. Two suspicious bags one block from our apt. Area being secured. Bomb squad going to 15th and 10th Ave to deal with another suspicious bag. Hope it all turns out to be nothing.

At least they are taking the right steps to prevent another issue but I do fear that we are going to see a lot of changes coming. I can only hope they made the bombs from something like an O2 container and an already illegal explosive charge. Otherwise we'll never get our cars, pans, ovens, etc clean again because some asshat decided he wanted to make the mother of all ajax & aluminum bombs. :banghead: Terrible tragedy for sure, however like all of the ones in recent times (say the last 20yrs) the real tragedy will be the loss of freedom, security and rights American and even global citizens will lose because of one incident. :(

Is that in front of the police station? I dont recall seeing any place in midtown with parking spaces like that that was not a police facility.

The sad truth is that Brett COULD be right - just as it could be a anti-gun liberal who decided to try and help create a 'tipping point' to get the socialist paradise he wants. There are a LOT of people unhappy with the government at the moment, and some of them operate on the fringe, and may also be pro-gun. But be careful about lumping the rest of the legal gun owner population (who are predominately conservatives) in with them - Mass Murder of innocents is NOT part of their psychological makeup. Most all of the recent major gun tragedies were committed by REGISTERED DEMOCRATS, who had guns but loathed themselves so much that they got ahold of a gun and committed their acts of terror. McVeigh went after a gov't agency, not a public event. What's going to be interesting is the spin this administration puts on it ("never let a good crisis go to waste"). Oh, and in this case, a gun was NOT the weapon of choice....but I'd sure like to have a gun when I caught the perpetrator...and I'll damn well have one on me when my wife runs the Music City half marathon next week...

Don't care what religion they are just hope they catch the right person.

Or Muslim, Atheist, Agonistic....I guess they have to be something not sure what the point was on this?

Seems like you want a fight. Sorry but you want get one from me  I don't watch the news normally and try to be very careful about what is known as news, double, triple check everything. You have to take my comment in context and be a little up to date on what's going on politically in this country for a few more years anyway. Blanca commented about guns ( hot topic for democrats and the media ) I commented Christians ( hot topic for democrats ) various government agencies have been instructed to view Christians as radicals.

What's truly sad is that the moment things like this happen here on our soil, the immediate response from all sides is to pick things apart, to make it all about something it's not even about (guns, religion, solar flares...whatever). The simple fact that we don't have the facts, we don't know what's really happened or why, yet here we all are, fighting over things that only polarize this nation and make us weaker...

I'd like to know the facts first, the who and why, then we hammer things out and determine where blame lies. THIS is what's wrong with America today...the media spin and we eat it up, spew it back out, twist it in our favor and argue ad nauseum with one another.

How about we just hold all of those whose lives just changed drastically in our thoughts and mourn for those just lost to a senseless act of cowardness? :2cents:
