Does anyone in their infinite wisdom know what a good moisture level is for a basement.

A few weeks back I bought a dehumidifier for the basement because we had a huge downpoor and the uphill side wall was damp and then a couple days later mildew/mold started to grow on the wall. All is well with basement now, but I have the dehumidifier set @ 50% any lower and it runs continous. @ 50 it runs for a short period of time then shuts off for while and then runs for a brief period and so on and so forth.

30% to ensure no fungus or bacteria, set it even less if it is usually dark or cool.

I had tried to set it to 45% and runs continuos. I have the largest one they make, so it definitely is designed to do the trick. Hmmmmmmmm maybe just need to get the BEE Dry people in here to take a look at it.

Drywall will absorb the moisture and promote fungus and mold.

Of course, if you were attempting to make a joke.........................
