I am assuming the replacement spring (Progressive) is shorter than stock allowing the forks to collapse a pre-determined distance? I'd make sure I understood a Progressive Spring and how it affects the function of the forks before pulling the trigger.

Nope, but hopefully someone has some experience to share with you.

I don't know how they work on the Busa, but have an idea how it works on cruiser forks. You have the shortened spring, with also a spacer which allows for a 1" or 2" drop (those are you only options). The thing to watch out for is when removing the cap for the forks, since the spring is compressed. I know its not exactly what you were asking but at least it sheds some light on it.
