adjusting stock suspension

Im not real keen on adjust the turn screws on the top of the shocks is there a preference of where to have it? would you want it all the way hard or in the middle?

I paid a shop $35 to set up my bike's suspension (sag, compression, rebound, damping). Took about 30 minutes, I had to get on/off the bike, bouncing it up/down with all my might as the tech took measurements/made adjustments. One of the best things I've done to the bike
