A note from the ZX12 side

Redelk, don't get discouraged by the dealer issue. If you want the 12, fine. But if you want the busa, get it somewhere else. I'm in the same boat: local s.o.b. dealer, in El Paso, TX. and I'm buying mine in New Mexico. They will deliver the bike to my door (same as my valk), and give me 20% off on parts and no tax, and they have treated me like a king. But definitely, do not buy from the ***hole dealer, or they will never go out of business. Enjoy your bike and don't be the first to try top end: bike develops a wobble and crashes, so I heard. The bike was not designed to reach those speeds; they just massaged the motor at the last minute. No offense! Remember the old adage: IT IS NOT HOW FAST YOU GO; IT IS HOW YOU GO FAST.

Valklex, I am in the market for a new Y2K Busa. I would like to know what kind of deal a cool dealer will swing you in New Mex. Any info you could pass on would be greatly appreciated. I haven't found a dealer who I wanted to do business with yet here in San Diego. I have friends in Alamogordo, and could make the trip for a sweet deal. Prices & names? Thanks for anything you can divulge.

i did say i like the hayabusa.
and if the hayabusa is a little or indeed a lot faster than the zx12r it will not bother me.
because i have no intention of riding at 350plus k`s (200mph plus) and if i do it will be on the safety of a track. our club hires out bike tracks on occasions as most clubs do.
phillip island is a great track with a long straight, i sure most of you who follow the 500cc circuit will know it.
and im sure you all know the mighty mick doohan 5 consequtive times world champion who has recently retired and good on him he need do no more than he has, he is a legend.
and he`s an AUSSIE.
what attracted me to the zx12r was the state of the art technoligy like the mono frame, the large lcd screen and electronic speedo and taco. the aerodynamics and the good name of kawasaki.
i ride with all makes of bike and im sure that a few of you on this site will be happy to know fc, etc. that i ride with a club called the front line tourers which is a club made up of police, fire brigade, ambulance and prison officers or ex prison officers like myself.
after my bike accident by the time i could walk again (12 months later) the prison that i worked in was closed. and i had no real desire to go back to that line of work anyway.
i dont make a habbit of flameing people as it appears to be called. i was simply saying that the speed wobble thing is unsubstanciated crap and i like to know where valtex or whatever his nick was heard it.

A lot of people in U.S. (and I'm one of them) regard K bikes as truly weird pieces of machinery. A positive thing to do with one is crash it as soon as possible to take off all the weld snots that the robots leave everywhere on the frame and Kawasaki's 'quality control department' (HAHAHAHAHA) leave there to be painted over. Use paint because powder coating is too expensive and lasts longer than most stock or aftermarket (Muzzy NOT INCLUDED) pieces of motor. Also after crash , during reassembly, the owner can straighten out all the odds and ends (brake reservoirs, misaligned axles, unequal height forks, broken steering head bearing races and I bet a lot of others that I haven't seen yet) that the bike is put into the shipping carton with.

Maybe Oz being closer to the Land of the Rising Sun, Kawasaki pays closer attention to what is shipped. But they also have the reputation of being over - engineered to the point of making it worthless to use aftermarket parts (MUZZY EXCLUDED AGAIN) to get any performance gain without throwing reliability and overall usability into the Dumpster.

well tinhead (good choose of words i might add) the last time i crashed a kawasaki (just to take the weld spots off ? oh come on) it was twelve months and 5 reconstructive surgeries to my leg before i could begin to learn how to walk again.
when i get my zx12r i will post a picture on the zx12r web board then in 12 months time i will post another. it will not be covered in stickers (ie. redelk) it will not have a muzzy or any other pipe other than a spec one.
it will have no mods done to the engine.
the only changes you will see will be a tankster and a bagster on the back.
it will be for all intensive purposes the same bike.
and if you want to see where zx9r ninjas crack when they are crashed, go to the zx12r web board and have a look at the pics of my old bike that i posted, i can asure you mine didnt crack at the welds.

and as for fork levels, leave the forking forks alone, who even looks at that crap.
when the bike needs a service i take it to the shop.
i get on, i ride and i enjoy myself i dont waste my money on unessasary after market make the bike go 2 ks faster parts.

i do however acknoledge that some people like to do their own work on their bikes, fine.

when the manual says its time for a service, i take my bike, it gets its service, i get my book stamped, i ride away.

if you wish to pull the bike apart and check for paint and welds and forking fork levels then go ahead, fine.
i will just ride and enjoy it and if anything go`s wrong (ie. recall items) i will take it back and have it fixed ie. hayabusa 99 model

Redelk: The dealer is: Las Cruces Motorsports, in Las Cruces, NM (suzuk, hond, kawi) (505)524-3626. Talk to Dennis Patton, owner (mention JC and the price, it's OK). I bought my red/gray for $9,700 out the door (no taxes, I'll register it in TX). These guys have treated me great. They deliver my bikes to my door by enclosed trailer at no extra cost; I live 40 miles away (even more convenient than a local dealer).
Mr Bear: As my wife told me: you always ***** about the dealer but keep giving them your business; do something about it or stop bitching. I did the former and wrote Honda and complained about the a**holes' business practices (only dealer in town because they ended up in the center of El Paso and nobody else can get a franchise (I tried), so they figured people need their business, and it shows). Needless to say, I'm never setting foot again,not even for warranty.
I don't trust any dealer's mechanics to begin with (the way they get paid is totally against the owner's best interest), and I always perform my maintenance. The warranty claims I've had (parts missing or broken), the dealer gets them for me and let me install them, and if I ever have a seriuos problem with the bike, they offered to pick it up at my door.

I own a '98 ZX11 (pause and wait for flying rotten tomatos to pass by). DP you have to agree that the 11 is the REAL pig when "wallowing" amongst the Busas and 12's. BUT! I love it and it be plenty fast. (for now, he-he)

Great thread, but equally enjoyable are the nasty ones where people are getting flamed and flame back even harder. The only people who would buy any of these sleds (and some others) are highly competitive speed freaks so there will always be disagreements on everything. Just don't need to get personal.....

Thanks to the Busa and the upcoming 12 I feel downright slow, ;'( Hell, Ican't even break into the 9's, probably be blown away by a Vespa on my ride home.

Bob I don't think you'd find a soul on this board who would put down the ZX11. Lots of us have owned one or done a lot of miles on one.

It's a great bike that held the heavyweight crown for longer than any other bike I'm aware of.

It might just be the Ali of motorcycles...
