Staying with the flag theme, I carried this small flag with across many different AORs, it is embossed with the fine dust of Afghanistan and Iraq which turned the white to gray.

The small black item is a piece of black granite off the Canadian war memorial in Kandahar, I happened to be there when it was dismantled and shipped back to Canada

.....and yes Marty, I seem to be suffering from the same sideways photo affliction as you did.....

You know that I have tremendous respect for our U.S. military, and that extends to all of our allies, so I can really appreciate what that flag represents.
I see too many people mixing politics with the boots on the ground, whose orders came down from a General...who got his orders from the government.
All the guys that served answered the call, and are to appreciated and well respected.
So thank you Bill

The Gsxr made it's first trip down the road in it's new life yesterday, for 45 miles.
Everything went pretty good.
The TPS went to _C00 after the engine got warm, and I got the C28/stva code after about 30 minutes of riding...but I expected both of these to happen, as I set them borh intially with the engine off, as you are supposed to, but then they Both need to be set again after the engine warms up, but, they are both close, as they should be, as the bike did not go into limp mode.
The bike ran incredibly well too, definately a 1000, and a little stronger than I expected. It obviously liked the cool air, and 1st and 2nd gear's 'auto-wheelie' worked on demand...just twist.
I need to adjust both lever's positions a little, and lower the brake pedal, quick and easy, and just to get their fit where I want it.
The suspension is good too.
The forks are really close, especially according to the zip-ties on the fork legs.
The rear shock needs a little preload taken out.
As far as dialing it in, I'll wait until warmer weather and cleaner roads, where I can push the bike with some confidence, then make small adjustments to get it just right, but, as it sits, I'm very impressed with how good it handles, especially just with a base set up.
The -1 front sprocket and the taller 200/55/17 rear tire seems to have the speedometer very close as well, but I just need to spend 5 minutes and set the SpeedoHealer.
I have a new Vortex stock size front sprocket to try too at some point.
The only hiccup I had was after about 35 miles...I lost the rear brake.
The rear caliper has 2 bleeder screws, and the inside one came lose...and sprayed out all the brake fluid.
Apparently triple-checking wasn't enough...and the idiot mechanic(me) somehow missed that, but, that's Why I test ride them, even though this one is my bike.
No harm done, other than to the pride in my work...not an oversight that I was proud to make, but, it's done, and I just need to refill, rebleed...and Make Sure that they are Both tight.
The coolant dropped slightly in the tank, just as expected as the air worked it's way out.
The oil remained clean and at the top line in the sight glass.
No leaks, no knocking, no smoke.
The steering bearings seem to be tightened the correct amount, not loose, and the bike tracks straight.
Chain slack remained where it was set.
Brakes are very strong...at least the front...the rear was...for a minute.
The mirrors, good clarity, but as expected, don't stick out far enough, and with how they mount on these models, no way to extend them.
I'm going to look at my options, including a left side bar end.
And...Nothing fell off...at least that I'm aware of so far, lol
All in all, things turned out very sucessfully.
I'm waiting on the oem rubber windshield grommets, and have a stock shaped, clear Zero-Gravity windshield to put on it.
I also have new matte black side fairings to go on it as well.
I'll take it to get a Va State Inspection sticker soon, but it's tagged and insured, and very rideable...just waiting on better weather to get all the small stuff just right.
For the future, maybe a set of lighter wheels, maybe, I don't know how much more I want to dump into it, we'll see.
