I have a GEN 1 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa. I have a problem with intermittent no start after 20-30 minutes of riding.
Starts right up early in the morning or after it sits overnight. Today, I pulled it outside and fired it right up. Let it warm up. Then took a ride for about 15 minutes or so. I stopped a Kum & Go gas station to smoke a cigarette and get a Mt. Dew. I then got on the bike and it would crank over like crazy but would not start. I sat there for about 1-1/2 hours hanging out. Tried to start it and it barely started and it sounded horrible because it was misfiring or something. And it would not accelerate with the throttle. Finally I decided to get my buddy with a trailer to come get me and the bike and take it home. When I get home, I checked the battery voltage and it was at like 12.5 so I threw my 2amp charger on it for a minutes just to be safe. It got up to 12.8 or so. I decide to hit the starter button and BAM, it fired right up again and ran smooth and pretty. When idling it sits at about 13.1 volts and with throttle increased it do go up to high 13 volts. It has done this to me every time I ride it. Prior to this, in the past, I replaced the stator/crankshaft sensor and the rectifier. The plugs on those two items were kinda melted so I repaired those and all is good. But I have no idea why it is not starting when it warmed up good.
Is it possible that the cam sensor is causing this? I have no FI light on and I have no idea how to pull codes on it.
