I am getting ready to put my new engine together. I used the JE turbo pistons with an .080 aluminum base spacer. What are you guys using with the spacer? Do you run 2 base spacer gaskets, which will lower compression even more, or are you guys just using a sealant on the spacer?

Check your clearances and quench area and then decide.

So what do you guys mean by copper coat? Is that like HI Temp copper permatex or something else? What brand?

Thanks.

I used the spray copper today for the first time. It works very well. Thanks again for the info.

You still use a Cometic head gasket. You do not need to run a base gasket on the bottom of the cylinders, that is where your .080 spacer goes. You just use the copper coat on both sides of the spacer and head gasket. 2-3 thin coats.

i ran a base gasket on mine when i had the spacer
so it was basically a .09 spacer
but either way will be fine
as long as the pistons are in the hole enough ;)

my next build im gonna attempt to run shorter rods vs the spacer ;)
to see how it works out
