01 Starter Clutch issue.....

I just picked up an 01, with 93000km on the clock. Bike works well, but the starter clutch failed about 300km after the oil change.
I took it apart, and besides some normal wear marks, which makes sense with the milage, all looked good. I cleaned it up, re-assembled, and it worked great - no noise or slippage. I tried it a couple of times, then let the bike idle for a few minutes. Then when I tried it again, it slipped completely - never even tried to engage. I am thinking that the oil change may be the issue, since it was good before the change. I used Castrol 10w40 motorcycle oil, and a Suzuki filter. I am hoping to get some feedback as to if this may be oil related, or that is how the starter clutch works when they fail.

I cleaned up the 2 covers, and the gears. Once again, after cleaning the one way starter clutch, it holds. I was hoping to get some insite as to the issue I am having, and if it is the common symptom when the gear has failed.
Thanks
