A slightly different situation.

The cop in the White House was displaying lethal threat, was behind a barricade and verbally warned off the insurrectionists to stay back when the individual took it upon herself to ignore these warnings and do what she wanted in an aggressive manner...the cop probably had orders to hold all incursions at that strong point...I don't see as he had much choice at that point-he had nowhere to retreat.

Try running a roadblock and see what happens.

Patrol officers are getting involved in shootings mainly because of unknown variables and the fact in many instances they are by themselves with no back up. If there was a second police officer in that patrol vehicle, the shooting would most likely have never happened. It is a systematic issue bridging from hiring to training to method of police deployment.

Point-there was a barricade
Point-the police officer had a weapon drawn in a defensive posture
Point-only a complete and utter idiot would encroach upon such an situation and Darwin looks after such people

Like I pointed out before-try running a roadblock and see what happens...this situation is identical.

How much heat and light was on this-how many people looked into the investigation of this particular incident? I'd say more than you and I and the police officer was cleared....unless you and I have investigative degrees and have more insight than the investigators, what we are saying is moot.

No warning? What the hell kind of a warning should’ve been given after seeing the door glass being shattered and a crushing crowd trying to get past? He would have been justified shooting everyone trying to break through.

I know that would be the first thing I'd do is break out a door window and then forcibly insert myself into a danger zone with a cop who has a drawn sidearm pointed at me....

I feel for the lady that got killed and also feel for the cop who had to do it...he will live with that forever and it can be a tough thing to live with...

Sometimes in a riot, pack mentality takes over and normal people do abnormal things out of character...this particular lady served in the Air Force so at one point in her life she knew what it meant to serve and be part of something bigger than herself. Perhaps she was caught up in some sort of overwhelming group peer pressure..?

I've talked to insurgents we've captured and found it sort of interesting that some were normal people following a twisted ideology-we did capture a few of the very "bad" ones where no amount of rehabilitation will fix them.

She certainly was attacking the cop....just by breaching the barricade.

He was a protection force, probably part of a laid back defense while the VIPs were moved to another, safer location....VIPs who were just down the hall and vulnerable to the insurgents at the barricade.

Point-when a cop is behind a barricade and has his weapon drawn and pointing....only complete idiot would breach and lunge.

Would you have breached that barricade in this circumstance? I have years of combat experience and I certainly wouldn't.
