What was THE bike that got you into sportbikes?

Gixxer got me hooked!

GSXR 1100 1986 man that bike popped my sport bike cherry big time! I went to that from a 1986 honda night hawk 650! couldn't believe how fast that thing got to 100mph!

1982 GPZ 550...had it a few months and bought a brand new 1985 Ninja 900...I ruled the streets...until the Vmax came out..lol

Was married for two weeks and asked the then wife if I could buy a bike? She said yes. I wanted a 900 Ninja. Had rode about 6 miles on bikes. Got drunk that day and crashed a dirt bike into a wall. She told me if you buy that bike I will divorce you, I won`t be a young widow. Did not buy the bike. Years later, a neighbor was given a 900 Ninja for doing a favor for a woman. I like that bike.

My 1st street bike was a '82 Yamaha Virago 750. Then came the '83 Yamaha 900 Seca and that was the bike that took me on to many, many different sport bikes that I've owned up till now.

1989 Yamaha DT125
1987 Yamaha RD350
Some old Kawasaki KX200 or something similar bit vague that one - it was Kawasaki Green and a trials bike.

1990 Honda CBR600F
1995 Yamaha YZF750R
1993 Yamaha YZF750 SP

Then I treated myself to my 2013 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa Limited Edition in Daytona Yellow and Marble Black.

My first move into sportbikes was my 1996 Triumph Daytona 1200. 147hp stock (mine's not!) and carbs! I still have it, probably will forever. It didn't make me see blinding lights and a man in robes so I got my 2000 Busa'.

Started with this one at 16 yrs old.. hardly a sportbike... but about as sporty as was available then.



Then, after a couple more, I bought this new in '81. Still have it.



My little bro picked this up in '88, and I was forever changed....
