All of the outrageous colored bikes from the late 80's to early 90's started it, but he specific bike that really wet my whistle was the first gen R1, had me a sweet wall poster!!

Well it started for me with dirt bikes and then a CB750 which totally blew my mind. A friend let me ride the Honda back when I was 18. Fast forward to 2003 when I bought an SV650 to start road riding and then I saw the Busa.......

Well as a kid I had always loved motorcycles. I started out on a 1973 Honda CB350 (which was my dad's first motorcycle)

Then a year later at a friend's party, I was offered to ride his 1993 Honda VFR750 with a pipe and jet kit. (after that ride I was hooked!!!)

After that ride I wanted a sport bike in a bad way. But I had waited 5 years before I got one on my own. I rode the CB350 for 40k miles during that time. Drum brakes, Points, adding oil, carb syncing ,and replacing tires. Then I broke the CB350 and ended up buying this used. It was freaking awesome coming from the Honda CB350 to the 1996 Yamaha FZR 600.

Then 2 years later went to this in 2001.

Then got this a year later.....after trading in the Aprilia.

Then 6 months later got this after wrecking the 1st 02 Gsxr due to oil all over the road from a car that lost its drain plug.

Then got the 08 busa and then followed the 09 Gsxr 1000.

The bike that got me onto sportbikes was a 2002 TL1000R. Freaking loved that thing..i was always riding harleys until one day on a bike ride with some friends, my buddy wanted to trade bikes for part of the trip bc he was considering buying a harley. By the end of the ride,i didnt want to give him his TL back.

1985 kawasaki ninja zx6... first year for full fairing production bikes..that is the bike got me into riding sport bikes ..

Me too!
I was 9:laugh:
I loved bikes from as early as I can remember, but the mid 80's Ninjas did it for me.
94 ZX7 was the first sportbike I ever owned(had lots of other dirt and old steetbikes before).
Next door neighbor took me riding on his late 70s Suzuki GS1000 when I was 4 or 5, that got me started.

Just looked that bike up and I'm seeing anywhere from 140-160hp depending on mods. I have to say that's pretty dang good for something from the 80s
yea and it was my first street bike period but I had raced motorcross and rode snowmobiles (snowmachine if ur from Alaska....:laugh:) early on so it was an easy transition.

but yea it was quite a rush and the day I bought it (18 yrs) it was a day I will never forget and the look on my friends faces was priceless envy when I arrived at my buddys house on it.... he was in disbelief lol.

I felt like a million bucks riding down the highway and actually got a few thumbs up from guys in cars. but, with what I have now WOT on my 86 would be crusing speed compared to my current bike....:guns::tongue:

Mine was a 1985 Yamaha FJ-1100, which I rode until 2000 when I replaced it with my first hayabusa.

Funny you should mention the front end wobble of a V Max. This is what got me into sport bikes. I traded my 89 V Max straight across for a 90 ZX-11. Wow !!! This ZX-11 tracks like its got superglue on the tires!

Throttle responce was also a tad quicker imho. The thing about the Max was the little brakes and spindly frame. I almost ate it one time because of a high speed wobble at 130+.

I never pushed it again after that horrible experience.

The ZX-11 ended up sitting around and not getting driven enough so I sold it. Occassionally I look on Craigslist for another one.

Bike history
71 750 Honda (new)
74 900 Kaw
76 900 Kaw
81 GPZ 1100
83 GS 1100 E
85 V65 Sabre
85 V65 Sabre full Honda sport fairing ( I miss that one )
90 ZX-11
01 Busa
V65 Sabre ( couldn't pass it up... again )
2002 1500 Valkerie
05 Busa !
