The school did the right thing..

yeah, I think we should repress everything, allow nothing as far as everything goes. and of course, get there with plenty of lawyers involved since we are incapable or working anything out for free anymore.

I liked the old days when, if you didn't like someone's shirt, you punched him out after school, then apoligized, became friends and went and played hotwheels. :)

if it violated the dress code then they did the right thing.

hmm, so what's your opinion of a school giving 7th grade girls contraceptives?

It's the American way!

The fact is that a 7th grade girl has no business having a baby. If the educational establishment takes the role a parent should take to avoid this I say fine. Her dirtbag parents should be keeping a closer eye on said 7th grader.

Clear violation of first amendment right of free speech. Get ready to pay up school district. I would even go criminal and have assault charges pressed.

All this based on what I read.

 We are talking about a school's management of something deemed offensive.

True...and I happen to totally agree with YOUR point of view. I just know that once a few people get a hold of this....what direction its bound to go.(By no fault of yours I might add.) Especially with the "contraceptives to a 7th grader" twist to it.

.........

"Defendant Hernandez, intentionally and without Plaintiff's consent, grabbed Plaintiff's arm and forcibly escorted her toward Smith's office, at all times maintaining a vice-like grip on Plaintiff's arm. Hernandez only released Plaintiff's arm after physically locating her in front of Smith and Defendant Rohrer..."

Of course not.. I would never influence the direction of a thread, particularly one I posted.

Since this thread is likely offensive to someone shouldn't it be deleted and the subject never broached again? ???

Also, the color blue bothers some. When will we address that troublesome sky?

yeah, i admit that is a loaded question and also one that i purposefully tossed to Projekt. honestly, it was fun and he's sharp enough to play with.

My opinion is that school should amend their code to include the pro-life and pro-choice material as well.

freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence...

what you read was based on the complaint filed by the plaintiffs.....a complaint is never a factual accounting of what actually happened, it is biased.

i have no problem if they school bans anti abortion propaganda.....as long as they ban pro abortion propaganda.....

however i feel this will be like all other "free speech" issues. people always want free speech to voice thier opinions, but rarely are they as open with opposing views...

if the shirt was pro-abortion, these people would not be screaming about "free speech".

Yeah...no kidding. And with out sounding sarcastic....why hasn't something like that been instituted yet?

"Should kids wear politically charged T-shirts to school, and do officials have the right to ask them to remove them? Or is this the modern version of book-burning?"

well, im offended by the word "the" so that word should never appear on this board again. If it does, I intend to sue.

See how ridiculous that sounds? You do NOT have the right in this country to not be offended by something.

Has anyone ever seen any pro-abortion propaganda?

Just another reason why kids should wear uniforms in public school. If you want to express yourself do it through academic achievement.

It's public school, don't really expect much. I'm sure the t-shirt prevented an upstanding school teacher from dumbing down anymore children.
