Ok folks. Yesterday I feeling a little better than usual and decided to try out my mp3 player. Riding with tunes was great, and I wish I would have done this sooner. The problem is, it could get me in trouble. I was having way too much fun. I wanted to post a poll, who rides with tunes, who does not.

Depends on where I'm going, how far I'm going, who is going with, and what kind of riding we are doing. But for the most part Yes I ride with tunes.

I ride without, I prefer to be able to hear what is going on around me at all times

Sometimes with, sometimes without. Actually, while riding with music I feel less connected to the machine. More like I'm a spectator. Then again, I have been known to be quite animated while riding to music....hmmmm....connection ????.....maybe. :oldcool: Get a set of Sennheiser, in ear, ear phones....no wind noise, awesome stereo quality. I believe Rubber2burn got me to buy a set. Now I need a set for the co-pilot.... :super:

Warning: Beware of the song "Animal" by Nickleback while riding the Hayabusa....... :oldcool: and don't set it on replay over and over or you'll find yourself in another state...and not the one you live in !!!! :super:

open road, "spirited" riding fine.... commuting or around town, never....

If I do not need to really focus on what is going on around me so much, I like the distraction.. weird enough, if I "really" need to focus, the same..

When riding in town with many possible problems? I prefer to have the quiet so I am not distracted at all.. I think the music is a distraction but can be an attribute or a detriment to your riding..

Some guys can ride just fine in town with a set of earbuds blasting in their ears.. just not me.. Suppose it is a personal preference more than anything..

I would suggest being able to hear cars/traffic/squealing tires/emergency sirens however  (James, you may want to let Juli pick the play list  )

(could not answer poll, "Sometimes" is missing)

James...

I plug my iPod into my Chatterbox, which has speakers in the helmet, which allow ambient noise in, as well...NO EAR-BUDS. (Aside from that, ear-buds are illegal, here in Cali.) But with the Chatterbox speakers, you can still hear your machine, and everything else going on around you... Additionally, the speakers, properly placed, reduce wind-noise.

Highly recommend this set-up for anyone who wants a continuous sound-track doing what they love best (well, maybe second-best ).

As you may be able to see in the attached pic, I velcro the iPod to my tank bag, allowing me to navigate across tracks. One thing I don't ever do, is look at the iPod screen. If the song that comes on is not to my liking, I simply reach up, advance to the next tune, and keep rolling...don't even have to look at the little music-maker...but practice and familiarity with this function is paramount.

All the time. Always keep my head on a swivel and don't make any music adjustments (volume, song) if the situation does not allow it.

+1 on the chatterbox set up. I have a small mp3 player on a lanyard around my neck which plugs up to helmet mounted unit with easy volume control.

Actually he hasn't found a way to run his 8 tracks and vinyl up through the helmet. LoL! :moon: :moon:
