Discussion 1. Is this appropriate?

In this instance the 10-year-old model is wearing adult makeup, stilettos, haute couture and staring into the camera with the provocative expression of someone much older.


What are your thoughts on this? Is this acceptable for a 10 yr old? Could this be considered child pornography? Bad taste or illegal?

If you think this is inappropriate why.

If you think this is Okay then tell us why.

I think they are all quite distasteful. Why try to make a child look like a woman????? Ever see that show Toddlers n Tiaras.....Makes me physically ill seeing those girls paraded in front of people dressed like little dolls cause their moms were either too fat and ugly to compete by themselves.

Well I'll show my age......absolutely inappropriate. Years ago i could have laughed it off, my kid sister use to dress up in mom's clothes and hats; yes men and women use to wear hats, but now-a-days you've got groups pushing child po rn as the norm and it's not look at the cute child playing grownup anymore, it's look at her, she's hot ......

Not to mention the low lifes that pimp their daughters and step daughters out as young as eight around here. Very sad folks, very sad.

I don't agree with it at all. Child models are fine when used as child models.

They use them for the exact reason that we are discussing it now. The shock value. You may not like it or agree with it but at the same time it got your attention.

Child porn? No. I saw child porn as a juror a couple years ago. Trust me this does not compare!!

oh man... my little princess (to be 10 in Sept.) was watching these little girls (2 and 3 yr. olds) modeling last night, sitting next to me while I was here on the org.
I think my daughter found it entertaining.
The whole time, I was thinking it was wrong....not so much because of it being sxually provocative...(because these little girls, I dont think have any clue as to what they were portraying)...but more wrong I guess for what the parent were puting them up to.
so now you move on to 10 yr. olds..still even more wrong....innappropriate.
I think a kid needs to be a kid and...IDK it is difficult topic...

Everyone of those are in extreem bad taste... shame on there money hungry parents for allowing them to be taken. Just as bad as the toddler model show.

she's a beautiful little girl...too bad her parents are putting her through that. very not right. parents are exploiting the girl for money. pictures are tacky and distasteful however not illegal. what can you do. there are no laws that says you have to have morals as an adult.

shame on the parents. it is in no way the girls fault.

I wouldn't want my child portrayed in this way on any advertisement, and I don't even think its appropriate for this discussion. How do we know one of our members isn't a creep that likes this type of stuff. I'm not saying it is illegal, since it isn't. I'm saying its gross. And not any less gross than someone making a comment about a 10 year old due to what they are wearing at the fair, or at a volleyball game, etc. The 16, 17 year olds know exactly what they are doing when they wear what they wear. These kids don't get it. They see the women in the magazines dressed like that and want to be like them, nothing more.
Can we ask why you are asking? Is your daughter/niece/friend's kid doing something of this sort? Or are you looking to weed out the weirdos here?

Same way I feel. It is a travesty that these children will never know what it is like to be a child. I think child porn is bit extreme, but very bad taste.

I saw this article earlier and it just turned my stomach. I can't believe a parent would even allow their child to be portrayed in this manner. What happens in 10 years when this little girl is grown and these pictures are forever out on the net. What kind of grief is she going to get in college. What kind of sickos will this attract to her. Just plain SAD!

It's asking for trouble, imo. We all know creeps are lookin at these pics wherever they are. Kids grow up to fast anyway, I don't see that this helps that. Kids having kids is not good for anyone....

5yrs ago I would have said these were in poor taste and probably forgotten the discussion 10mins from now. Fast forward to current day and I have a 2.5yr old daughter and 8yr old step daughter. My opinion has gone from poor taste to extremely inappropriate. I can't imagine what the end goal of these images would be except to encourage little girls to grow up entirely too quickly. Kids should be kids and not sexual objects.

I understand the discussion relevance but I'd say its as bad as anything posted here
