Who Rode Today?

I took a ride to the local Sheriff's office to pay my property tax and it was closed for lunch so I waited. My bike cam caught me. On the way home starting to see dead deer. That time of year. In the 90's again today.

Took a morning stroll but today’s ride was shorter than I planned due me aggravating my shoulder at the gym the other day, I got about in right at a 100 miles or so.

Went up the mountain it can be quite intimidating as it begins with 270 degree gymkhana type turns and if you run off you are gone!!!

Tried to capture a few pics along the way but all these were hurried and point and click type of pics as I’m not much of a photographer

Then I went to a different one that is less technical and more open for some spirited fun where I can ride up and down the mountain.

Most interesting obstacle I encountered on the road today was some horse poop lol...

Also took a pic of a flock of wild turkeys that were crossing the road

Good times....

Took a lil 270 miler yesterday into the Sequoia National forest and the Kings Canyon/Sequoia NP. They’re about 90 miles SE from me and at the southern edge of the Sierras. Was a great day, a crisp 55 degrees at 7,000’ and blue sky. Hundreds of corners and dozens of switchbacks. Fought a headwind on the way back and wished I’d had the Busa for the aeros but the Z was much better suited for the high mountain twisties, exactly why I bought it. I rode in from the north but I’ll ride the Busa in from the south. I’d rather ride up the switchbacks than down. I hate riding slowly downhill around severe hairpins on the Busa. Up is better. :D

That’s a beautiful area to ride. It’s been awhile since I’ve been out that way.

I had my usual Sunday ride with a few others, fast and furious with hundreds of bikes on the road due to some coordinated event put on by a local govt sponsored ride group.
Great weather, little wind, sunny and cool.
We dodged speed camera traps, motorcycle cops, groups of slow riders and groups of Harley’s trying to block the roads lol.
Made it to the watering hole with no issues.

The Wes Cooley replica...it's a great looking bike for sure...

at 233,o
Yeah I spoke to the owner, he's only had it 9 months, someone else did all the hard work. 1979 model, 233,000kms, a little smokey on start up . . .
Here's the real deal . .

At 233,000 kms it deserves to smoke a little, those were tough engines.

I knew a guy who had a Gen 1 1200 Bandit like mine with 250,000 kms in it and he would still wheelie at speed, he was around 70ish then...a Willie Nelson look alike...

I love both the GS1000S and the GSX1100E , I have special memories of my bike journo eldest brother road testing both bikes at each models release . My middle brother got to go on the back of the 1100 , but I went on the back of the 1000 with him at that first release , and clearly remember us cracking the ton with ease . I still want an 1100E at some stage in my collection , if I find one not up to restore to original potential , I will want to Yoshi Superbike it . The GS1000S are now up to very high dollar over here in OZ for a good one , as you would expect .

Added 83 miles to the odometer today, about 70 degrees. I took a pic of the bike by an old historic gas station. Roads were still wet In a few places, tried to capture how the road winds up the mountain but hard to see in the pic. Caught the sun heading as it was setting. Shorter than I would’ve liked but a good ride nonetheless.

That’s one helluva paint scheme, every time I see your bike I think about how much time and love went into creating that great looking stars n stripes good ol’ USA paint job.
As for the stretch... each to their own lol.
It is a wrap although would have been better as a paint job! I know how you feel about the stretch LOL I'm 50/50 on them too but so far I'm ok with with. Do you ride to work daily?

No, for me it's a 42km ride each way, cold in the mornings so that puts me off for starters, also having to dress up in my riding gear etc, then the traffic's pretty thick on the way home . . . besides, I have a nice warm comfy car with a stereo and cruise control lol.
My bike is strictly a toy, not a commuter bike.

I hear you. Sometimes I get out and ride it to work 5 days a week and switch off to the car the week after and think to myself why I did the bike ride in the first place LOL. Hot, muggy , sweating!
