When to switch to synthetic

I don't want to start an oil war or discussion. I just want to know when everyone thinks it is safe to make the switch to synthetic oil. At the 500 mile mark or later?

Thanks,

I followed the break in for my 2000. I ran non-synthetic oil til I hit 600 miles, then went to synthetic. In addition I kept the rpm under 5000rpm, that's what the manual said so that's why I did that.

Make the switch if, and when you want. You won't hurt anything by switching at your first service. The only reason that I would not change it before the first service, is because there's plenty of assembly lube being circulated around the engine by the oil.

Take a look at all the new vehicles being delivered FROM THE FACTORY with synthetic. Too bad Suzuki doesn't step up and do the same.

doing mine at 3000

I'm waiting till at least 1000 miles to be sure factory recomended break in is completed, then I'll consider it.

plan on changing my oil every 100 miles up until 500 or so to get all the factory contaminants out...then I will use synthetic
