it?
When it comes to riding what is/are your limit(s) Limit defined as those things that keep you from riding at given times for example, night riding, rain, snow, work schedule or other commitments, arthritis or other medical conditions, length of the ride, heat, city/hwy slabbing, riding solo, riding in groups etc...

I’m one of those idiots that enjoy getting cooled off by rain and riding in the rain at least when the weather is on the warmer side at least. With that said I don’t leave the house in the rain it has to catch me already out

I’ve tried to minimize my night riding given where I ride majority of the time lots of deer bears and critters out.

Any city riding I’m doing is based upon a commute or a destination I’d never select city riding as “joyful” or where I’m joyriding. I’ve been spoiled in that regards by what’s accessible to me as an alternative.

I ride pretty much year round but if it’s lower than 40 degrees the bike stays home unless it’s just a really quick short ride which I’ll do just to charge battery and keep it for sitting long periods during the winters months. Here’s a pic of the old SV 650 out after a light snow my wife’s bike but I rode it often I hate that she sold it.

No choice. The Busa is my transpo. But living in SoCal I escape most weather limits.
  • Not fond of wind + rain combo
  • road construction can make lane splitting dicey
  • powdered dirt + turning (because there is no turning in powdered dirt - both feet down & out, < 5 mph)
My limits would be related to the bike's mechanical condition but a Hayabusa in good shape feels limitless

I am only limited to arthritis in my hands, gripping the bars for any length of time is almost impossible, I usually do 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour rides and rest my hands...it gets worse if I am doing other activities with my hands before a ride such as raking or shovelling or even driving my lawn tractor or truck.

I am a proud member of CAR (Candy Assed Riders) and I don't ride in the rain or cold anymore...I used to but not anymore.

Limits not for me rain, snow cold, hot I'll ride in any. Rode to north Colorado in the middle of Dec. temps in single digits. On the way home hit a monsoon in Dallas so soaking wet temp about 35F. On the way up rode for 19hr straight just stopping for gas and toll booths.

Pic was taken in Kansas at a hotel.

Edit the bike being unsafe I guess is a limit mine has bad tires and front brakes at the moment so I'm not riding. Look at my thread "What Chicken Strips" to see my limit with tires.

My limit is the weather app on my phone. Apparently it doesn’t want me to ride.....ever. It lies to me and says it’s going to rain every day. The rain never comes and I end up angry every time.

Below 30 degrees and above 95
Rain unless I'm caught in it.(Only because it means I have to wash the bike.)
Ice, but then again I haven't seen anyone who could...for long! lol
large group rides with riders whose skills I don't know.
When the wife says, "So you want to go without me?"

I have ridden in rain, lightening, 3 degrees (F), wind, you name it. When you tour you have to take what you get. With current meds extreme heat is a problem. I don't ride at night unless necessary - too many drunks and cell+dark impaired drivers. To be honest the Busa is not a great foul weather mount. The BMW has extra lights, wind protection, drive modes and heated everything so it's hard to stop it weather-wise.

When I used to commute 30 miles one way I got stuck in rain. I rode all winter down to 22 degrees until I got to work and was shaking uncontrollably. Now day I don't ride in the rain or below 30 degrees. I do manage to ride all winter.
