I myself use either a BMC or a K&N. The whole secret is to check it frequently. I Do This! There have been times where I have had to Vacuum the sand out of the airbox that the filter has stopped. I'm a Big Believer in checking the filter frequently.
I'm running a PiperCross air filter on my gen1. Heard a lot of good things about them and the company so I decided to buck tradition and try something other than BMC. So far so good
