OK, after some trial and error trying to find a map that is programmable, one of Lamb's buddies told him to go to the greatest website in all the land. The Harley-davidson site, that is. Well, greatest it is not, however, their maps and travel planner is unbelievable. To follow is the first 2 days of the ride to Reno. Day one will consist of a slab to Bakersfield, a long way for Lamb, but then the fun begins. The lil dragon and a ride skirting some big big mountains ending in Fresno.

The area between waypoints 5 and 6 is known as the lil dragon. All the areas between waypopint 3 and 6 are twisty and nonstop.

This is Thursday the 23rd of July

Obviously, these days are long. Especially that first one, however, most of you meeting for these don't have to go quite as far. Please RSVP if you plan on meeting along the way. Also, these routes are not written in stone. This will be the basic route that will be taken. If some of you with more local ties know of a tremendous road that is being just missed, please speak up. PLEASE. As Lamb would like to get a route set in stone before we leave.

Also, those maps are interactive, you can zoom in an out and get a real feel for the roads by using the bar and compass on the left hand side of the maps.

Now for the day after the stampede, Lamb is completely unfamiliar with the roads. This is partly the reason for the extended trip. Lamb has lived in Ca. since 1980 and has never really explored what Ca. has to offer. Socal has been covered, but central and northern, other that Tahoe area, has not. Looking at the maps of the area and talking with shortboarder, Lamb has come up with a tentative route for Sunday the 26th of July. The Lassen volcano area looks very intriguing and we wanted to incorporate that into the ride. The locals feedback would be much appreciated here, however. Best Western was used as the hotel simply because that is what is on the Harley site. Input is appreciated on all of this, hotels, accomodations, maybe someones house to help with expenses (begging). Hahaha

Lamb noticed the 299 over to Eureka just north of the intended route, but wasn't sure. Hoping some locals can help us pinpoint this day a lil better.

CCbusa05 lives in Carson City. He plans to hook up with the SD group as they pass through either Carson City or Gardnerville and will escort the group to the PepperMill, if they'd like.
As far as suggesting any arrival route plan changes, well, there could be several! BUT, let's be realistic here, you guys will be worn out and way overdue for rest and relaxation at the PepperMill. The tentative Stampede rides for Sat and Sun will cover any route change plans that I could come up with anyway!
Looking forward to seeing the Souhtern Cal contingent!

Already revising the ride plans. Now that Lamb knows really where the lil dragon is. Here is day 1. Any Vegas guys wanna ride to the stampede....................spudley, Kernville would be the place to meet. Lamb would love to pickup some guys coming up from La, or Bakersfield or Thousand Oaks etc. along the way. The night of the 23rd (thurs) will be spent in Clovis Best Western, unless someones generosity is accumulated.
Where are the central cali guys starting their ride from on Friday up to the Stampede?
OK This is the revised Day 1 and is locked in pretty solid.
One question though. How long will it take to get from Bakersfield to Fresno taking this route?
This will help us get a bearing on what time to leave the Bakersfield area to arrive in Clovis area by 5:00ish.

Hey Lamb, I'm not sure but I think I should ride with you guys AFTER the Stampede all the way to the Northern Coast, I know some incredible roads out there....as a matter of fact, maybe some NorCal guys could join us then we could break away at the GG Bridge or something as you go south, we'll talk soon about that, OK?! Doyle (many NorCoast pics below)
