I assume he is taking the spot for Sete on the booming Ducati ....

Yep, since Sete had the surgery, and Stoner's taking over for him next year, they figured might as well bring Bayliss back. He always seemed to qualify well, so maybe he can make some trouble for Rossi in the race, and give Hayden the championship!
