In an armed conflict against the US, Canada would last a very, very short time....their military is vastly superior to ours in every single way, they would gain air superiority in a matter of hours and strike our infrastructure and military bases indiscriminately.......it wouldn't even be a contest......

It's crazy talk to even think any different.....
Some would think this...........and the same people thought the Vietnam War would be over in 6 months to a year.

Don't discount Canadians, we have a large landmass and fighting amongst the trees in a gorilla warfare limits most if not all of the US tech. We have vast and remote areas that would cripple the US in mid-winter, where we Canadians thrive.

The Canadian military may be smaller, but on average we are better trained, better equipped and can inflict more damage in small numbers than huge armed divisions of the US army.

I have our militaries back 100%, and have always said I would be happy to pickup arms to protect Canada's sovereignty if the war ever crossed our own border and will be shooting long before asking any questions at this point.

Duro’s post said a lot. Canada and the U.S. have to, will remain, friendly neighbors. Trump’s shoot from the hip way of talking is just that…talk. I’m much more concerned about his insistence on talking about the Panama Canal and Greenland. Good relationships are crucial. Playing the bully does zero to advance that.
Trump wouldn't stand a chance against Demark and the other Nordic countries. When they have guns under every pillow and air-bases along major highways throughout the country it's hard to stop them. There is a reason the Germans in WW1 and WW2 didn't disrupt them either.......don't wake the sleeping bear.

Again, I think Trumps talk on Greenland is just that..............TALK TALK TALK.

What has me concerned is Panama. I understand and partially agree with Trumps concern on Panama and specifically it's treatment of the US and gouging ships that go through to offset their countries internal corruption and fraud and outright failure.

What concerns me is the way he plans to occupy Panama and the global war this will cause. This will indeed get interesting.

What also concerns me is Trumps next steps in Isreal. While I agree there will NEVER be a two state solution, and I'd like to see Israel from sea to sea............it's the way he goes about this will determine how Islam responds to the rest of the west and the backlash that will cause across the globe as Islamic radicals are worldwide now.

I spent 33 yrs in our military much of it in SOF......

I know exactly what our capabilities are and am telling you we wouldn't last very long......at all.....

As for better equipped and trained....think again......

In WW2 Germany occupied all of the Nordic countries except Switzerland and Sweden which were neutral......Denmark was one of the first to fall to the Germans...

You need to spend a little time in learning the capabilities of the world militaries....the US has a top tier military and although smaller than a few others, it punches far above it's weight, it is currently the most powerful military on the planet.

Again, you don't think Demark has an alliances with Sweden and Switzerland?. The Nordic countries have the oldest known partnership in the world. They would give the US just enough rope to hang itself.

Yes, the US military is very powerful and punches well above their weight.........but in a jungle or urban warfare their vast numbers account for nothing.

We saw that in Vietnam, Iraq, now Iran, Isreal and all over the middle east. You continue to forget that ideas and ideals are bullet proof and it's not about conquering the country but changing hearts and minds.

You can never convince me that the US is a better country than Canada. Sure we have our flaws, but so does the US...................as long as a small group of people believe this, they can take it back.

Remember what happened the last time the US tried to invade Canada.................don't think for a second we won't burn the white house to ground again regardless who is in office.

A determined lone man with a hand gun and a rifle can achieve more than an army in a short amount of time given enough drive to do so.

Don't discount your fellow citizens so quickly, yes there are a lot of woke ones in the big cities............but the vast majority are still hardy back country folk who know how to get things done.

Organized conflicts - none.

See this is the problem with a lot of military people, you are trained NOT to question authority and only to do what you are told.
While this makes you obedient soldiers, it also makes you followers who don't question.
As you age, this problem ONLY gets worse as you think you can demand respect rather than showing those WHY you deserve it.

A Colonel may demand your respect based on his/her rank.
A Leader will show you WHY you should respect him/her and that will travel faster through word of mouth.

Sadly in today's Canadian and American military I see lots of followers, and very few leaders willing to stand up for what's right for this country, or it's people. Nor Do I see the ANYONE in the Canadian military protecting citizens charter rights from enemies both foreign and domestic. Those in the Military seem to be preoccupied with taking care of themselves first, and others second...............which defeats the whole purpose of your service in the first place. Now while this isn't true for all, those who notice this and remain silent are also complicit in the crime.

While I respect the military tradition to a point, it's chain of command has been compromised for many decades now as politics, personal agenda's, and corruption has taken hold from the bottom to the very top. To the point now that the PM/President and his Ideals or Party dictate the law of the land, rather than the legal laws, charters and contracts which hold everyone to account regardless their position. The same can be seen in the US Military as much as they try to hide it.

Besides, we are NOT fighting the same wars we were fighting 40, 30 or even 20 years ago.
Today's wars are more about changing minds, than actual boots on the ground.

Again, it goes back to the point.................while you can occupy a country, you never truly conquer it until every last person on it, or affiliated with it agree with you or is killed (and we have laws against genocide). Otherwise, even a lone man/women can undo decades of progress with a simple action. Or it can take as little as 5 determined/dedicated armed men/women to dismantle an entire army if they plan it right and determined to see it through.

We have moved away from large battalions facing each other and shooting till retreat or the last man standing, it's far to costly for both sides.

Everything is now targeted.

But, now back to Trump's re-election and how I haven't seen the sky fall yet or the markets crash.........................in fact my RRSP's are up at record levels since he was sworn in .

A person such as you telling a person with my training and experience anything regarding the military and combat operations is the same as a person who has never ridden a motorcycle telling me the Hayabusa is crappy.....

Please stick to topics of which you can ever hope to be competent in....

Settle down, Francis. This conversation is 100% hypothetical. Nobody is talking about invasion. I know you dislike Biden but I’ve never seen as much crap fall out of someone’s mouth as Donald Trump’s.
His politicizing of the airplane/helicopter crash is a new low. As he gets older, it gets worse.

I watched him speak on the mid air collision and it was deplorable with little to no thought about the lives lost and more thought about former DEI policies......

Sure thing....................Let's sit back and see who it right in 4 years, and who owes who and apology.

Let's keep in mind our countries top military defence Chief General Carignan was chosen because she was a women, and who's longest role was Chief of Professional Conduct and Culture from 2021-2023. And this fit's Trudeau's idealist cabinet, of equity over equality. perfectly.

I can go on and on about Trudeau's idealist Cabinet including Freeland who it the farthest thing from an accountant or economist or Bardish Chagger who's has NO previous work experience in the outside world and came right from university as a student. BUT, she was a women of colour and that was her ticket in Trudeau's Equity cabinet.

In the US their secretary of Health was Rachel Leland Levine, put in place because she was the first female openly transgender government official in the role and that fit what the US Woke political environment wanted to see.

Let's also not forget that March 18th 2020, Levine directed Pennsylvania nursing homes to admit new patients, including stable patients recovering from the COVID-19 virus who were released from the hospital. Despite warnings from nursing home trade groups that such policies could unnecessarily cost more lives.

Then you have Kamala Harris herself and the previous democratic party which basically performed a political quo in the US, removing a sitting and elected president and placing one of their own chosen members in his place. This same women who's choices as a district attorney actually argued against allowing evidence in a trial that would free a man on death row because she personally thought he deserved it. Then she tried to cover it up.

Not the mention the democrats obvious weaponization of the DEA against Trump at all cost as they went about their witch hunt.

Shall we go on??????

This is the problem when you let ideals and politics make the hard decisions, rather than simply putting the best people in the best positions regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, or age.

Let's just hope that Trump puts the best people in the best positions, so we can finally have adults talking again...................Let him shoot from the hip and keep people on their toes. The democrats and liberals love it, and it makes for interesting TV.

Adults won't respond to such things, they will tire quickly of it.....................they will respond to what decisions are actually made.
Eventually Trump will see the adults aren't going to put up with it anymore, and even he will see that Bullying Canada, Britain, or the EU countries will get him no where.

Remember at the end of the day, the US is NOT the end all and be all in this world. So while Trump does what's best for the US (good for him), the rest of the leaders should do what is the best for their countries with no consideration of the US or what it thinks it deserves.

That being said ALL countries should honour the contracts they signed previous regarding NATO and military spending. Canada dropped the ball here, and needs to pay up. We signed the contract, we need to honour what we've signed. If Trump decides to rip it up, then screw him it's all out in the open now.

You will say anything in your quest to make a point. Reminds me of someone. Nobody was removed. Biden was obviously in no condition to run for reelection, probably not even to serve out his term. He made the right decision to drop out.

One thing you had learned if you had served your country in uniform is to embrace brevity in your responses instead of typing a short story where a person loses interest in the first 3 lines....

You have no clue who our current CDS is.....none at all......

You seem to think you are better informed than anyone else....

And to be clear................Trump is NOT my president and I'd wager not yours either.....

We as Canadians can have an opinion but that's as far it goes, we have no cards in the game.

Remember Cameron, the FBI is listening…..
I don't give a flying F&^%& about that.....................let them.

If any kind of social credit score was ever started in Canada, I wouldn't last a week.......................i'm NOT politically correct, and i'll be the first to tell you that.

I say what I say because I believe it to be true, I may sound like a broken record but at least my thoughts, opinions and beliefs don't change with the tide of the wind. My opinions can always be changed if someone proves me wrong. I am always willing to learn new things, but I don't paunder to woke BS or care if your offended.

My opinions are my opinions, if you don't like them prove them wrong to me (and I'll change) or simply don't read them and pass on.

Biden said right up to the meeting that he wanted to run against Trump.....................That was his wishes, I honestly believe.

Let me tell you what more than likely happened, knowing just how back stabbing politics is

Biden was given a choice..........

Either step aside NOW and retire.
This means you will go out gracefully with your dignity intact, and you can say you did for the greater good of the country, and that you think Harris is best to stop the Trump Presidency.

OR

We will remove you.
We will force your doctor to say your NOT fit for office, you will protest, but in the end you will be removed and the public will see you as a stubborn senile/crazy old man that needed to be removed for the greater good of the country after the smear complain was over.

They would make Biden the enemy, and declare and all out loss to Trump in the election unless something was done about Biden NOW.

Either way you look at these scenario's the end results is the same.
There is no doubt in my mind that Biden's wishes were to fight Trump in the poles, right up until that faithful meeting with Harris and white house staff.
I have no doubt that Obama and Clinton were present at these meetings either, as they were both very much still in charge at this point.

Simply open your eyes and look at the events and HOW they unfolded.............Why would Biden declare one day that he wasn't going anywhere, and suddenly the next day his retirement plans were all but made and finalized.

It all happened just to quickly and easily...................almost like it was planned from the start.

Step back and watch the days leading up to that faithful day

Well the last time I went to the USA was before Passports were required, and I never had an issue entering the US (we barely stopped to be honest)..............we always got questioned on the Canadian side on the way back through.

That's just my experience though

You have a habit of expressing your opinion as if it’s fact. Watch video of Biden speaking during the last couple of months and tell me you think his cognitive ability isn’t severely compromised.
This conversation is ludicrous.
