I also lowered my battery 1/2" as I run a LARGE Shori that I had to cut my seat pan to fit . With the new Russel Day Long seat I dont want to cut its pan , or give up the larger battery so I fashioned a new battery box .

Hell of a nice upgrade to the trash can mod! If you ever go the extra steps for a kit and for lowered/extended people I'd be in.

Nice work. I could not do the trash can thing either and I made mine from sheet metal. Coated it in bed liner spray coating. Been good for 2 years and about 5K miles and 2 track days. Still looks like new. Now if someone can figure out how to keep water out of there!

I have never had water in my old can mod or the current one seen here . I do go heavy on the silicone sealing though .

May take my template to a sign shop and see what the price would be to make a dozen of them .

I'm in for a kit. Really want to do this. Been looking at the can mod for a while. Just got my gen 2 4 weeks ago and took a heat gun to it to give me some extra space but not much. It's this or a trash can, would prefer metal but might go with the can just to keep it all plastic. But if you can make a kit I'm in.

Water comes in from the top. The hump is not water tight and it has very large openings. It also needs to be removable so silicone is not really an option for me.

Arch have you tried a little weather striping? The only way I get any water at all in the trunk is if I hit it withe the pressure washer.

Never considered weatherstripping either. May need to give that a try as well.

That's a simple design. Get a cad file, and take it to your local sheetmetal shop and have em burn out however many on the plasma table. I'd personally still use the Whitney punch for the holes. But the plasma can spot centers for those.
