Well another dragstrip set to close in SoCal at the end of the year, irwindale dragstrip.

Now it’s just Bakersfield(not really SoCal but close enough to claim) and barona.

Sad news. Sonoma Raceway (200 miles to the NW) will end up being the only big drag strip before we know it. Bakersfield is about 150 miles S of me and my area is considered to be right in the north/south middle of the state. Bakersfield may not be in the L.A. basin but it’s for sure in Southern California. Not sure which side of the ‘line’ I’m on. How far are you from Yosemite NP?

We only have an 1/8th mile here and I won't run on it because there's no point. I'm not going to wait in line for 20-30min to do a five second run. Who wants to run on a 1/16th mile???? Might as well see who can start and then shut off their bike fastest.

1,320’ tells the tale. Anything less is well, less and only shows who can launch the best. 1.320’ can forgive a bad launch if the motor and rider are good enough. Watch the Suzukis and the Buells run the quarter mile in NHRA events. Top speed is right around 200mph. 1/16th of a mile? Might as well race from one crosswalk to another…..yawn….
