Thinking of converting

Hey guys. New to the site. Just thought I would stick my feet in the water and see what the busa crowd is all about.

I recently sent a rod threw my crankcase on zx10r at the strip. Thinking of converting over to a hayabusa. The 10r is a great bike (best time at the track was 6.31@121mph swb) but the busa is a like a 10r stretched in stock form. Just a little extra weight though.

So give me the ups and downs of what you think. My 10r was a trailer quenn and any other bike I get will most likely be.

I've been going to the track alot this year and there are mainly Busa's and 14's out there. The times are pretty tight between the two, but the Busa's usually seem to edge the 14's out for the most part. There is one ZX-10 that runs pretty consistently and he is nothing to dismiss that is for sure, but on a Busa or 14 you will take him as long as you stay on your game. As far as that goes it really doesn't matter anyway, as it is all ET racing in our series, so if you can dial your number and run it consistently that's all that really matters. The only time we do any heads up racing is on test & tune nights and it is for side cash or bragging rights only.. Just my :2cents: :beerchug:

Who us trailer queen owners? only at bash.... I think I counted about 25 of them at the last one... Truth of that subject be that many are corner carvers (or want to be) and have come a lot of miles to be there, flat siding the center of the tire makes for a tough week when all you are doing is going around corners..

What is the "Busa" crowd about? I think they are the same as any group of bike owners.. bling guys, HP guys, drag racers, track racers, street riders, canyon carvers, a few posers, but mostly guys that just love riding "THE" bike.... this particular group happens to be pretty close knit when you consider they span coast to coast (and across the pond for that matter).. What is interesting is when you connect the dots of the members that have met in the real world.. I think that spans coast to coast as well... Heck BA Busa flew out to the east coast, bought a bike and rode it to bash and the west coast...

"We are Legend" (and family)

Welcome :welcome:, me, I do long distance Touring, so trailering is something I know very little about

You are right the busa is like a slightly longer, heavier, liter bike with a bit more power. Running the 1/8 I think you’ll find them pretty comparable. It will still be a handful at stock wheelbase. While the oem clutch on the busa is stouter than the liters, it still needs a bit of work to be at its best on the track.

I think you will find the busa will stand up to the abuse of drag racing quite a bit better than the 1ks. I can’t really think of a downside unless you like the uniqueness of the ZX10 at the track. You usually see more busas than anything. But on the other hand that is why there are so many more aftermarket drag racing parts for them.

You will get lots o f postive stuff on the Busa site about the Busa. ;) If you have been happy with the 10 on the track you should stick to the 10. If you are looking for something that is more versitle (some track, curves and road travel.) go for the Busa.

:welcome:

You'll enjoy the Busa and the info you'll receive from this site. If for some reason you consider a 14...research the year you intend on buying. Believe they have a frame recall. not a good thing if you gonna turn it into a trailer queen.
